Made in America specials and happenings

POSTED: Tuesday, August 28, 2012, 2:05 PM

If you're going to be in town with this weekend's Made in America concert featuring an all over the board lineup including headliners Jay-Z and Pearl Jam, Maybach Music, Skrillex, Passion Pit, Santigold, Dirty Projectors plus a few more, chances are you're not going to want to drop too much more dough on drinks and snacks after that $50 general admission ticket. Here's look at a few of the companion events going on around the Parkway.

The folks over at Thrillist have done their homework, putting together a 6-stop bar crawl through the Fairmount-Art Museum area with all of the stops serving beers for under $4. The map includes all important festival amenities such as which places serve cheesesteaks, who has beer to go, and whether or not there's outdoor seating.

London Grill (2301 Fairmount Ave.) has beer specials going all weekend long: $3 commemorative cans of Made in America Bud and Bud Light, but if your tastes run towards the craft end of things, they've got Treog's Sunshine Pils pouring for just a dollar more. Cheap beer is great and all but the real excitement is happening Thursday night when the legendary Budweiser Clydesdales are making their way around Fairmount. Be on the lookout for them at London around 8 p.m.

If you're in the market for a higher end after party, it's worth noting that Jay-Z's luxury brand D’ussé Cognac is making its way down to Philly for the weekend. If you'd like to sample it for yourself reserve a ticket and head over to IndustryXIX (1904 Chestnut St.) According to the press release the dress code is fancy and "will feature a host of VIP’s and taste-makers to experience the D’ussé brand and Lifestyle." No word on whether Jay-Z will be in house enjoying a glass of D’ussé.
