Over the weekend, an attractively packaged quart of ice cream caught my eye in the snug freezer section of Casel's supermarket in Margate. The flavor: Lobster Tracks, churned by the fine folks of Maine stalwart Gifford's (who incidentally claim dominion over the invention of Moose Tracks ice cream). My fiancée, who spent childhood summers building houses for the underprivileged in Farmington, Me. — I do not deserve someone this virtuous — recognized the Gifford's name. "We went there every night for ice cream!" she erupted. "It's amazing!" So we bought some.

She was right — Gifford's is amazing. In addition to the Lobster Tracks, we also had the black raspberry-chocolate chip, sweet, floral and pale mauve like a fuzzy granny sweater. But the Lobster Tracks — no real crustacean, just red-shelled caramel candies studding vanilla ice cream swirled with fudge and crunchy bits of eclair shell — got me thinking. If Maine has Lobster Tracks, Moose Tracks and Deer Tracks (another Gifford's flavor), what footprint-making mascot can Philly claim for its own? Squirrel Tracks? Pigeon Tracks? Arlene Ackerman Tracks?

We want to know. Leave your suggestions in the comments — animal name and ingredients, please. Team Meal Ticket will review the suggestions. We'll pick a favorite, make a batch and post the recipe next week.

This might be too obvious but Pretzel Tracks...saffron ice cream (to mimic the color of mustard), pretzel chunks (maybe w/ caramel), sea salt, and maybe a chocolate/fig swirl.

The mind boggles attempting to think of what ingredients would comprise Arlene Ackerman tracks.

Needle Tracks! Dirty needles from Kensington and Somerset blended into a dirt-brown dope ice cream with crack rocks for jimmies.

Scrapple Tracks. A philly breakfast ice cream. Mocha ice cream, with swirls of carmel and chunks of brown whatever (brown sugar type swirls, toffee, butterscotch chips...anything brown like scrapple)

Philly Beer Week Tracks. A porter ice cream base, "beer nuts" mixed in with a caramel-malt swirl.

    Love the Scrapple tracks suggestion!

Doesn't it kind of have to be an animal? Hence (although it kind of pains me to say this), I think our only option is Eagle Tracks. Although I might modify that to "Angry Eagle Tracks." And it would be a chocolate ice cream flavored with Yards Love Stout, with pieces of pretzel (Wawa brand) and chocolate (maybe John & Kira's?), obvs.

Do Meal Ticketers get to play too? In light of my "sweet" article that's in tomorrow's paper I'm going to have to say "Bee Tracks"!! Wildflower Honey from a special secret beekeeper, Ricotta from the Italian Market, and fruit...so many options, but I'd go with either Raspberries or Peaches! Oooh, I want some right now.

Ethorson, If it's going to be strictly animal related please do not forget about Hip-Hop, the basketbal-playing rabbit mascot of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Phanatic Tracks sounds like a winner, maybe reverse the ingredients though? Pistachio ice cream, with chunks of strawberry?

Mmmmm, pistachio ice cream with strawberry sounds delicious. What if you added bits of coconut to represent the white in his jersey?

SEPTA Tracks - sweet cream ice cream with cherry and blueberry sauce swirled with a little bit of peanut butter to represent the nuts I usually see on the busses.

Teenage flash mobber tracks... blood (strawberry?), guts (caramel?), too much sugar/junk food (extra chocolate/candy?).
