Marc Vetri chimes in on school lunches on HuffPo

POSTED: Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 2:30 PM

Over at Huffington Post Marc Vetri is making his blogosphere debut, sharing his thoughts on the sordid state of school lunch. Coming from a guy whose dad rolls out meatballs in the kitchen of Vetri, food and family are key and shared family meals are invaluable.

To counter this sad state of affairs Vetri organized Dream Camp, a summer program in which kids from low income families can experience healthy, family-style eating, learning the finer points of setting the table, passing food, and clearing up after the meal.

So what happened over the course of those five weeks? Here's what Vetri has to say:

"These children have made a real connection between healthy eating and healthy living. They make better decisions about their own health, they influence their families and they are a voice for better choices in their communities. This all was accomplished over the course of five scant weeks. Imagine the possibilities of this if we did it longer and on a larger scale."

Good stuff.
