Maru Global Takoyaki is moving to Headhouse

UPDATE: Here's the full Tokio Global menu (PDF).

Ryo and Nicole Igarashi, who opened their one-of-a-kind Maru Global Takoyaki off 10th and Spruce in 2010, will have a new home by the end of this week — the Japanese street food specialists have moved into 124-126 Lombard, last home of Madame Saito's Tokio Sushi Bar, with plans to kick things off this Friday, Feb. 3.

Takoyaki, the petite griddled batter spheres the Igarashis stuff with cheese, meat, seafood and sometimes even chocolate, are a drinking snack of wide repute in Japan, but late-night business never took off on 10th, says Nicole. This'll help: At the new Maru, they'll be able to serve beer (sharing a license with the adjacent HeadHouse) and will have room to expand into yakitori. (The rest of the menu, save for their crabcake balls, remains intact.) Saito's sushi menu will also be an option ("It's like a big Japanese playground," says Nicole), and HeadHouse boozers will have access to a Maru-driven late-night bar menu between the hours of 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. The new-look Maru will do dinner nightly, with lunch service Thursday to Sunday and legit late-night (3:30 a.m.) on Fridays and Saturdays.

Not yet, bje55. I know the space has some structural issues due to a fire (part of the reason why Maru moved). I'll keep you posted on any tenant news.
