Matyson feeds you the five senses

Center City BYO Matyson (37 S. 19th St.) has been killing it with their thematic tastings as of late — lobster, coffee, you name it. This week Ben Puchowitz is going real left-field, cooking five courses inspired by the five senses. Each plate on the $45 menu, available now through Thursday, is designed to sensually stimulate — check out the first course (crispy pig tail, jalapeno corn muffin, coffee BBQ), which doesn't come with silverware. Call 215-564-2925 to reserve; full menu after the jump.
Touch: Crispy pig tails, jalapeno corn muffin, coffee BBQ
Hearing: Sizzling baby rock octopus, potato, chorizo, piquillo peppers
Sight: Herb crusted Ahi tuna, local beets, blood orange, saffron
Smell: Braised veal cheek, celery root puree, kale, smoked rosemary
Taste: Chocolate layer mousse cake, English toffee, raspberries
