Last year, City Paper released its first-ever Meal Ticket Magazine, a special standalone full-color release inspired by this here food blog. Very excited to run down what's included in the 2012 edition, which you will find inserted into all copies of CP's May 17 issue.

- Severely injured by a drunk driver at the age of 16, Pumpkin chef Chris Kearse's journey has been burdened by uniquely arduous odds. But that hasn't stopped him from rising through some of the country's best kitchens en route to opening Will, a restaurant of his very own. Gorgeous photography from Neal Santos here.

- "Few foods are as humble, even fewer as powerful," writes Adam Erace in his detailed rundown of eight different bread services in Philadelphia. "Why else would restaurants sink so much time and energy into something given away for free?" Among the represented restaurants, again captured beautifully by our guy Neal Santos: Zeppoli, Talula's Garden, Koo Zee Doo, Bistrot La Minette, Chifa, Kanella, Las Bugambilias and Modo Mio.

- On the more utilitarian end of this: Alexandra Weiss has done a bang-up job compiling a guide to every farmers market of note in the Philadelphia area. Photos are from Neal Santos' own Farm 51, located in Southwest Philly.
