Cook + Solo going glatt kosher on the Main Line

We didn't see this one coming: Partners Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook will open Citron and Rose (sounds like a Federal Donuts flavor, no?) in Merion this summer. Well, technically, a dude named David Magerman will open it, since the Zahav boys already own some non-kosher enterprises you may have heard of (hi, ribs at Percy Street) and can't be official proprietors. Oy.

Solo will be exploring Eastern European Jewish cuisine at Citron and Rose, stuff like smoked sausages and charcuterie, house-baked breads and rotisserie meats — all prepared according to strict glatt kosher standards. (Even the wine, beer and cocktails served at the marble-topped bar will be certified.) Yehuda Sichel, currently at Zahav, will be moving over to be chef de cuisine at Citron and Rose, which will feed 60 in its dining room, plus more at the bar, chef’s counter and outdoor patio.

Citron and Rose will also feature full-service catering capabilities, a first for Cook and Solo. Looks like a proper Center City chef is about to become the must-have accessory for any Main Line mitzvah.
