Mike Stollenwerk's plans for Brewerytown

Mike Stollenwerk's plans for Brewerytown

Quietly, while all us silly food pens were busy wagging our tongues at the House of Vetri/Garces/Starr, Mike Stollenwerk began building his own empire. He's like the Tampa Bay Bucs, assembling a group no one saw coming. Little Fish. Fish. A new location for Little Fish. Fathom, which we’re reviewing next week. Slow down, dude! Yeah, right. Last week, news broke of a new project up Stolly's sleeve.

Located on the 2600 block of Girard, the new venture, a 4000-square-foot restaurant and adjoining prepared-foods market, is an opportunity "to bring what we do to the other side of the city," says Stollenwerk. Last year, Brewerytown developers MM Partners — their planned revitalization of the Girard drag also includes a branch of Fairmount's Mugshots — approached him about the connecting spaces, set to premiere in the fall. The as-yet-unnamed restaurant will serve only a family-style pre-fixe that will change nightly; BYOB and $35 a head. The adjacent prepared-foods outlet will allow Stollenwerk to sell his famed seafood to go — maybe that amazing goat butter from Fish, too, hmm? — as well as non-aquatic mains "We don’t want to exclude anyone. If, say, your husband or your wife doesn’t like seafood, we'll have plenty of choices for them." They'll deliver ("like Tiffin") and cater, too.

That’s all for now, right, Mikey? "I've got a few other things in the works, too." Like we said, empire.

That's a pretty risky move for a Restaurant of that quality and size in an area such as Brewerytown. I personally think Fairmount Ave would be the better location, but I hope it works!
