Hot Diggity! (630 South St.), the gourmet wiener distributor we first told you about in mid-May, opened over the weekend. Chef Keith Garabedian, who co-owns with longtime friends Tom Zmijewski, Sean Kendall and Matt Anderson, oversees a menu of 10 different hot dog options, broken down in full-color illustrated glory above the order counter via art from Philly artist Hawk Krall, Drawing for Food blogger and author of Serious Eats' Hot Dog of the Week column.

Sabrett's franks with natural casings and custom-baked Liscio's rolls are the starting points for each variety, all priced at $6 or under. There are recognizable regional specialties like "The Windy City," with neon-green relish, celery salt and whole pickle spear (no ketchup, that's sacrilege), and "The Cincinnati Skyline," a traditional version of that city's signature cheese coney (homemade chili, diced white onion, scallions, cheese sauce). But there are Hot Diggity originals in play here, too, like the "The Saigon Fusion" (take all the basic toppings of banh mi sandwiches and hot doggify 'em) and the Tex Mex-style "Desert Dog." Any setup can easily be made vegetarian by swapping in a meatless Worthington veg link. In addition to the dogs, Diggity's doing hand-cut fries with a whole mess of tasty dipping sauces, including curry mayo, chipotle mayo, honey mutard, black pepper ranch and garlic/rosemary aioli.

The shop is currently open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 11 to 8 or 9ish. Garabedian, who says he's working on getting a license to offer a small selection of craft beers by the bottle, also clued us into Hot Diggity's "Happy Hour" — every Friday and Saturday from midnight to 2 a.m., all hot dogs drop to $5.
