The sale sign is down at 1708 Lombard, home to Mike Stollenwerk's Fish until the haute seafood house moves to 13th and Locust next month. After a tight remodel, the space will become Brick American Eatery in January, headed up by none other than ... Mike Stollenwerk.

"We decided to take down the sale sign pretty recently," says the chef, who recently sold Little Fish and Fathom. "We like the space, and it’s in a great neighborhood. It was just too small for Fish.”

Renovations will include changing the floors and the color scheme — "and, you know, getting rid of the seafood pictures," Stollenwerk laughs. "We’ll brighten it up, make it more casual." The new relaxed atmosphere will reflect the prices, with entrées around the $20 mark. And it won’t be only seafood. Stollenwerk promises snacks like roasted almonds with chilies and venison jerky and mains like Wagyu short ribs and a poussin (fittingly) pressed under a brick.
