Lent, you're killing me. If I have to source my protein from eggs for one more Friday I'm gonna scream. Fortunately, a little pea-green ramp pesto helped enliven a fluffy scramble. Nice color, right? I'll get you the recipe on Meal Ticket this week. —AE

Friday: Made some guacamole for an afternoon snack. Seized by discipline, I ate it with radish slices instead of tortilla chips. H and I thawed out two pounds of Georgia shrimp from the freezer and made a tomato basil sauce to go over whole-wheat thin spaghetti. Trying to see my healthy eating through to the last, I made fat-free, sugar-free pistachio Jell-O pudding. So bad it drove me to chocolate. —KL

Took the train up to New York on Friday after work. We decided to get take out from Note Thai (279 Bushwick Ave.). The dishes on their menu have silly names like Juk "B" and "You and Me Together." We actually ordered the Juk "B,"  Thai-style wings, as well as roti and a dumpling noodle soup. After dinner, we went to Bushwick Country Club (618 Grand St.), which is not much of a country club at all; it does have a mini golf course, though. Drank picklebacks with pals ... enough picklebacks to make us think ordering the Fernet and High Life special was a good idea. It wasn't. —AW

Visited Nomad Pizza (611 S. Seventh St.) for the first time since they opened on Friday night. They now give you adorable mini slice cutters with your pies (get the clam!), I'm guessing in response to early customer confusion about uncut pizzas arriving at the table. It's a nice little touch and probably much more economical than tracking down and hiring this guy. —DL

Had brunch with my cousin and his wife Saturday morning at Roberta's (261 Moore St.) at their suggestion. It's supposedly very hard to get a table, but JN and I showed up a little early and landed one right away. I was pleasantly surprised to see they make Bloodys with Reyka, that really smooth Icelandic vodka. Food: special "classic-style" pizza; roasted potatoes with pork hash; bacon; yogurt with granola; and a sable sandwich. Three strips of bacon was $5. —AW

I wish I had pictures to show of Saturday night's proper South Philly serenade (DL, got some Instagrams?), but I was a little busy massacring "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Bride-to-be C was a sport, sharing the embarrassing duties with me in a surprise duet the crowd of 200 freaked out for. Or maybe they were just really enjoying the meatballs, roast pork and rabes from Dad's Stuffing (1615 W. Ritner St.)? —AE

Why yes, I do have an Instagram from your serenade, AE! This was my first foray into this South Philly tradition — for anyone who's unfamiliar (like me until recently), a serenade is a pre-wedding open-air bash for family and friends, the main event of which is the groom crooning to his bride-to-be while she leans out a window like Italian Rapunzel or prettily perches on some sort of ornate wrought-iron chair. AE and his lady flipped the script a bit and smashed the aforemenioned duet, which led straight into lots of high-energy ladies, little kids and buzzed-on-white-zin me dancing to Pitbull songs in Adam's parents' driveway. It was fucking awesome. —DL

Saturday: H humored me by buying low-fat cheddar — I was determined that my pre-wedding shape-up shouldn't exclude nachos. We mixed a variety of beans and hot sauces over tortilla chips and then added sautéed peppers and onions, low-fat cheese sprinkled judiciously on top. When they were out of the oven we doused them with fresh cilantro and ate them in front of the TV. )Since when did 30 Rock stop being funny?) Later, H and I made popcorn on the stove, old-school. We sprinkled parm on top and snacked while we played Settlers of Catan with friends. —KL

Went to Bamiyan Afghan Restaurant (358 Third Ave.) in Manhattan for a surprise birthday dinner Saturday. Had a glass of the house red to prepare myself for what would come after dinner. To eat, we got the soltani skewers — filet mignon and koobideh (minced beef), and quorma sabz with lamb. After food, went to Second on Second (27 Second Ave.) for karaoke. Something you need to know about me: I HATE KARAOKE. As soon as I walked in, I needed to be instantaneously drunk. I had a good time regardless. —AW

Sunday: Ho-hum. The usual suspects: yogurt, fruit, eggs. The culinary highlight of the day was probably mid-morning, when I got a 10 percent student discount at Iovine Brothers. Instead of a buck, my head of cauliflower cost me 89 cents. A strong start to the day. —KL

On Sunday morning I had the great honor of participating in the Penn Food Summit, a weekend-long event organized by the staff of Penn Appetit, the Ivy's student-run food magazine. I joined Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen and former Inquirer food columnist/current Penn prof Rick Nichols on a panel discussing the particulars of food writing. After thoroughly embarassing myself next to my far-more-qualified cohorts, I forced all the bright-eyed students to sit still long enough for me to take a pic of them. (How were y'all that cogent at 10 a.m. on a Sunday? Impressive.) Thanks for bearing with me. Later that day, headed to the KoP area for a family party; drank Kirkland brand IPA from Costco (it's good, don't front) and brought along a big box of treats from Sweet Freedom Bakery (1424 South St.), since one of M's cousin's kids has some food allergies to contend with. Everything was a hit with him and the rest of the crowd, the cinnamon bun being the most scintillating ticket. —DL

Major serenade recovery mode on Sunday. Slept/wrote before visiting the Philly Farm & Food Fest on Green Aisle Grocery recon, then came home and cooked a chill, Latin-inspired dinner of spicy black beans, cuminy braised cabbage and seared perch with cilantro chimichurri. Nice way to close out the weekend. Still exhausted. —AE

Opted for a low-key brunch situation on Sunday. Went to Bread Brothers Cafe and got your basic two eggs/bacon/hash browns/toast and cranberry juice to drink. Nothing very exciting, but it did only cost $3.99. Went home early to have dinner with my parents. My dad made NY strip steak and venison over onions, rice, and bok choy cooked in the steak drippings with sesame oil. Sorry, vegetarians. Talked ethics over dinner and then ate some ice cream. —AW

I started the weekend off right with some awesome clam pie and a margherita at Nomad. Man, their pizza is awesome, but can they maybe offer a sparkling by the glass?

I ate some more pizza, and some lovely ziti, Saturday night at my first ever South Philly Serenade- spectacular job Adam and Charlotte! The dj was great, looking forward to the wedding!

I pick up a solid mix of sweets from Sweet Freedom Bakery on Sunday morning for a family party before heading to the King of Prussia Mall. After watching my mall buddy consume 3 taco-related items from Taco Bell (yes, the dorito taco was one) I decided to balance out the mall-food universe and order spicy tofu from the other food court. It was ok. After that went to my cousin's house for a triple birthday party and ate tons of pickles, some salad and a slice of tiramisu. Ended the night with some Two Hearted Ale and Nugget Nectar while watching 4 hours of tv , Sundays have never been lazier!

Friday night our friends in Northern Liberties cooked up some crispy quesadillas with homemade guac on their backyard grill. We brought over a six pack of Negra Modelo to go with it, then we headed over to Union Transfer for many Magic Hats. What a great venue- greater even than the band we saw. Mental note to check out Llama Tooth across the street which was closed by the time we ventured over, but the patio looks awesome!

Saturday we spent a pleasant hour and half wait at Tria before getting seated at Mercato, the grilled artichoke was amazing as always, our main courses were so-so but it was fun to be back there.

Sunday spent on the couch refreshing our memories from the last season of Game of Thrones and getting takeout from Fat Salmon. Udon soup, hako and red snapper negiri with a side of Ned Stark head-chop!
