Friday grabbed food from the newish Asian eatery Stix, a cheerful juice-box of a space on a lightly trafficked block of Fitzwater. Details in next week's CP, but for now, enjoy this pic of their pork banh mi.—AE

As most Fridays have been going, I began my weekend at the ever so conveniently located i.e. directly across the street from Meal Ticket world headquarters Khyber for a few pint of Sprecher Black Bavarian. I met up with some out of town friends and decided that Alla Spina was the spot for dinner. Draft negronis pretzels with beer cheese, porcini deviled eggs, a veggie version of the Burgamo, a choco taco, we pretty much did the whole menu. Awesome as always. Post dinner we headed to a house party where we put a serious dent in an out of state bottle of Pikesville rye.—CR

On Friday night, I invited some friends and ex-classmates over for a casual dinner of vegetarian tacos and Jarritos sweetened margaritas. We sat around the dining room table for a long time catching up, and I was reminded how meals are such a natural way of re-connecting with others. Bonus: one girl brought the best hostess gift ever - a large fig jam pizza from Dock Street!—EK

Dave Ansill slayed dinner at Bar Ferdinand on Saturday. Had so many thoughtful, strongly seasoned bites I could barely keep track, but the highlights included honey-drizzled, almond-crusted eggplant bars masquerading as chicken fingers, thick fuchsia waves of tuna crudo with finely diced celery and apple, crispy rabbit with carrot puree and the jamon flatbread with egg (pictured). I felt Ansill's presence much more strongly during this visit than my August one, after he'd just taken over. Really gracious service, too.—AE

Lately and somewhat inexplicably my new go-to hangover helper has transitioned from stand-by Stogie Joe's delivery to an over sized plate of nachos and a couple of margaritas at The Cantina. So that's what happened on Saturday afternoon. The rest of the night went from beers at Johnny Brendas to cocktails at The 700 Club and eventually dancing at Ruba.—CR

With copious leftover taco fixings, Ry and I made scrambled egg tacos for Saturday's lunch. After a chill day of cleaning and re arranging the house, we put on some clean clothes and made our way to Northern Liberties for a Greek feast at Dmitri's. It was hard to choose from the simple but enticing menu, but we opted for the Mediterranean platter (hummus, baba, beets, lentil salad and the likes), steamed clams, shrimp pil pil, and Greek-style meatballs. Afterwards, inspired by a recent Meal Ticket post, we huddled together and ran across the street to Emmanuelle, where the impeccably dressed and charming bartenders crafted us some mean cocktails. Ry kept it simple with "The Cocktail," with rye, bitters, sugar and orange peel, and, as the designated driver, I requested a "Temperance Cocktail," which was was delightful and creative: strawberry shrub, ginger beer, rich simple syrup, and a splash of club soda. Barkeep Christian Gaal brought us behind the bar to check out the giant 35 pound block of ice he was expertly carving up with a shiny metal cleaver and a delicate hammer. The night ended at a South Philly house party with a fridge full of PBR, flagrant dancing and bizarre drinking games.—EK

On Sunday morning I dragged myself out of bed to attend a filming of a certain Food Network program at a restaurant that may or may not be right around the corner from my place. Beers were flowing and the kitchen was turning out plenty of plates. Be on the lookout for my national TV debut. Back to the house for a much needed too many afternoon doughnuts and beers nap and then over to Stogie Joe's to share the joy that is their square pizza (sausage and broccoli rabe, please). Oh and meatballs and $2 High Lifes. After dinner I made my way over to American Sardine Bar where the ASB and SPTR staffs were having their holiday party, which was as I'm sure you can imagine, with a beer list like ASB's plus karaoke, it was a pretty wild time.—CR

We took advantage of the warm-ish temperature on Sunday and took the dog to the park for some much needed play time, and spent the remainder of the day snuggling and watching movies at home. Feeling a bit lazy and deciding to make the weekend a taco three-fer, we visited a buddy working at Cantina Los Caballitos for tacos los campechanos (steak, chorizo, queso fresco and grilled cactus), seitan anticuchos, and a couple rounds of Sierra Nevada's Ruthless Rye. A piccolo cup of mint and straciatella gelato from the neighboring Capogiro scoop shop provided the final delicious bites of the weekend.—EK
