SNACK TIME: Hedgehog vs. carrot, Rita's you cray, Law & Order & Food, more party tricks to open a beer, a pug in a hot dog, Sprayracha?!
A poor, defenseless hedgehog almost experienced death by carrot this past Sunday in Norfolk, UK. The wild hedgie was found with his head stuck in an empty can of carrots by a local couple, who called the RSPCA to help. The bottom of the can was cut open so the critter could breathe; he was eventually removed from the can and suffered only minor injuries. The little guy should really reconsider his standards and go raid Beatrix Potter's garden or something.

Maybe it's because they got cocky after airing the commercial, but Rita's has been coming up with some ridiculous new flavors. Smores? That's the opposite of water ice. PB&J? That's a sandwich, come on. But, you have to give Rita's credit; the flavors taste almost exactly like their namesakes. Phoodie.com blogged about their experience eating the new-but-now-defunct PB&J ice. It sounds very Wonka-esque.
Someone is taking the time to screencap every time someone ate something on Law & Order and is tumbling about it. With 109 images and counting, the blog's subheading is "You have the right to remain delicious."
Two weeks ago, we posted a vid of that grandpa opening a bottle of beer with a chainsaw. Seems like Chris Sumers and Adam Young felt threatened, so they made Bottle Cap Blues, a vid of many, many badass ways to open a beer. Items that work: an iPod, a can of beer, a skateboard, a machete, everything in your tool box. Items that don't work: a cow skull.
A pic of a pug in a Weinermobile! It appears it may have cost the owners $100, but that might just say $1.00.
"Sprayracha" is a thing. Sriracha is becoming the internet's new bacon.
Rita's is dead to me. I've moved on.
First there was the '05 sale to McKnight Capital Partners of Pittsburgh who saw the "opportunity" to basically Jersey Shore our beautiful Rita's by introducing toppings and new products that, while antithetical to everything Philly water ice, were geared towards the same mass market that watches Jersey Shore. And then in December, 2011, our Rita's changes hands to yet another private equity firm, that of the "I think pb&j" sounds good handjobs known as Falconhead Capital LLC. Much like Romney needs to take responsibility for the job losses in the years following his exit from Bain Capital (he takes credit for any positives in the years following his departure), someone needs to step up and take responsibility for these abominations before God and all things we hold water ice--but then again, I won't hold my breath.
It's a private equity firm. They'd put 12 Starbucks in The Italian Market if they could.
But like I said, I moved on. I moved on a long time ago. I'm with John's now. He gets me. Brion Shreffler
