SNACK TIME: Cheesesteak in your beer, wine from Jerz, hot dogs might be bad for your butt, vasectomies and pizzas, hard-boiled eggs sans boiling, and MORE MARILYN HAGERTY

- Ever wish you could drink your cheesesteak instead of chewing it? Me neither. Apparently, Kirk LaVecchia has —  the South Jersey brewer has a cheesesteak-flavored beer in the works. So far, the ingredient list includes boiled meat and old hops. Sounds interesting.

- Moving on to a more sophisticated Garden State inebreant, WHYY and the Wine School of Philadelphia teamed up to host a tasting comparing wines of France to wines of New Jersey. It seems the growing conditions in NJ are similar to those in Bordeaux. They blind-sipped six different wines, three from each region, and then rated. Check out the link to see which region took the cake.

- Let's transition from refined to uncouth. A billboard recently appeared in Chicago claiming "Hot Dogs Cause Butt Cancer" via the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council is boiling mad at the "outrageous [and] inflammatory" claim. Reps of each group were last seen throwing case studies at each other's heads.

- The Associated Press reports on a urology practice in Massachusetts that is giving away a free pizza with every vasectomy during March Madness. An administrator with Urology Associates of Cape Cod says it's a "lighthearted way to raise awareness about the procedure and drum up business." I'm not any sort of doctor, but I don't quite see the connection between pizza and male sterilization. One is very fun and one is very not.

- Lifehacker.com posted this article on making better hard-boiled eggs without even having to boil them. The trick is to bake them instead. You can also make more hard-boiled eggs at once by way of the oven. The technique comes from Alton Brown, further proving he knows everything.

- Eater National has set up a Marilyn Hagerty Wire on their site where we can follow the travels of the viral little raisin of a food writer. A far cry from the common Olive Garden, Hagerty has visited swank spots like Dovetail and Crown during a visit to New York City. She also visited Shake Shack because she was "tired of all these 'hoi polloi places'" and ordered a burger. And a glass of wine.
