Stake hits Norris Square this Sunday

POSTED: Friday, September 28, 2012, 12:57 PM

Norris Square Neighborhood Project’s Community Garden, Las Parcelas Garden (2241 N. 2nd St.), will host the next Philly Stake meal this Sunday, Sept. 30th from 4-7:00 p.m. Stake dinners get the community together to sit down to a great meal made from locally-sourced ingredients (from Greensgrow Farms) while listening to proposals for community projects. Everyone votes on which project they deem most worthy, and the winners take home the profits from the meal to kickstart their idea. Fourteen of these dinners have taken place so far, resulting in $10,000 of grants going right to our neighbors who have great ideas.

Up for your consideration this time around are several local arts projects, a therapeutic community garden for the elderly, and even an outdoor pizza oven for PhillyEarth’s youth-run urban farm. Pre-sale tickets are already sold out, but they’ve held back 50 tickets to sell at the door for anyone who missed buying online. (Tickets to the meal are $10-20, on a sliding scale.) Learn more and read all the proposals right here!
