This weekend's beer happenings

Attention Philadelphia: this weekend (much like every other weekend) is a great weekend for beer. Dust off your favorite drinking hats because there is a long list of brew-related events to check out in the city.

First up is the charity-driven Goose Island “Drink For Research” at Revolution House (200 Market St.) on Friday night. From 7-9 p.m. you can score a keepsake glass for $12 and get unlimited refills of three of the breweries best beers. Two dollars from every purchase will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Obviously it is our moral duty to get out there and buy as many as possible. You know, for the kids.

Next up is The Kenzinger Clambake at Johnny Brenda’s (1201 Frankford Ave.) from 4-10 p.m. this Saturday. The bar will host any city dwellers who want to feel like they’re at the shore without actually having to go to the shore. Crab cakes, fried clams, Kenzinger and DJ DNA spinning all day. Not bad, Johnny Brenda’s. Not bad at all.

Last but not least, sign up with Keystone Homebrew Supply (435 Doylestown Rd.) if you’ve been meaning to learn how to concoct some beers of your own from home. The group will be giving an introductory level crash course on home brewing on Sunday in Montgomeryville for a $40 fee.
