The Brewer's Art coming to Alla Spina

POSTED: Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 2:12 PM

If Baltimore makes frequent appearances on your To Travel To list, feel free to shrug and be like, "whatevs" about this news. (On second thought, no, don't be like that.) But the rest of you, look alive: next week's Meet the Brewer event at Alla Spina (1410 Mt. Vernon St.) features The Brewer's Art.

Located, you may have guessed, in Baltimore, the microbrewery is sort of stingy with their wares beyond the brewpub's walls. Having been named the absolute best bar our nation has to offer just a few years back, it's safe to assume that they attract crowds capable of drinking up the small operation's stock without wider distribution. So if you're curious, but not immediate-road-trip-to-Bmore curious, you might want to find yourself in Fairmount next Wednesday, Dec. 5 between 7 and 8:30 p.m.

Brewer's Art owner Tom Creegan and brewmaster Steve Frazier will be there, and they're bringing a bunch of treats: a keg of much-lauded Belgian strong ale Ozzy, their flagship dubbel Resurrection in cans, plus the intriguingly named La Pétroleuse and spicy holiday brew St. Festivus. All enjoyable on their own, for sure, but don't you kind of need to know which goes best with a mortadella hot dog or some porcini deviled eggs? We sense some pairing experiments in our future.

P.S. in case you miss it, or if you just can't get enough, save the date for their encore appearance on Dec. 14 at Devil's Den (1148 S. 11th St.). Looks like they'll have a slightly different selection of beers on hand that night.
