Win tix to Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert's Nov. 2 Merriam Theater show

Filed Under: Chef Salad | Food Events

Next Wednesday, Nov. 2, chefs, authors, TV stars and unabashed bros Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert are appearing at the Merriam Theater (250 S. Broad St.) for an evening of off-the-cuff culinary conversation and Q&A that will likely evolve into discussions of chefs as celebrity, boozing, cooking trends, stoner food and (we're sure of this last one) your girl Paula Deen. Tickets are going for, as one friend put it, "Radiohead prices," but Meal Ticket's got a pair that we're getting rid of for free. You want? Just leave a comment on this post with a funny, original and/or scathing answer to the following question:

If you spotted Bourdain and Ripert sitting at your local bar, what drinks would you buy for them — and WHY?

Submit your comment between now and 5 p.m. this Thursday, Oct. 27 to be eligible for the win. We'll select the best answer and alert the winner via email, so be sure you comment/register with an address you check frequently. Good luck! See y'all there.

For Bourdain, an Uni shooter with gin, because everything it better with sea urchin roe. And for Ripert, a glass of Gelber Muskateller from Austria, because its delicious and I first had it at Le Bernardin. After that its all pbr's and bottom shelf whiskey and ending the night most likely fighting a cab drive while trying to pay with a credit card.

For Bourdain, I'd get him a glass of melted butter (but hold the heavy cream), in honor of Paula Deen, and I've love to see him make some more quips about her. For Ripert, a glass of Bourdeaux as he's said it's what he'd want as part of his last supper in Melanie Dunea's book.

Bourdain loves local & Ripert has a base here so my local bar happens to be the "neighborhood grill" of Rittenhouse Square so it's perfect.. Twenty Manning Grill's Rye Street for Bourdain and The Iconoclast for Ripert.

The Rye Street is comprised of Dock Street Rye India Pale Ale, RI1 Rye Whiskey, St. Germain, & a dash of bitters.. a local beer mixed with a masculine liquor topped with a little bitter twist! Everyone knows Twenty Manning for it's food, but they have bartenders that are amongst the best in the city - a great discovery, another Bourdain trait!

I know Ripert loves Bordeaux but unless we're going to 10Arts or Le Bec Fin the chances you'll find one at a local bar that's up to par is slim to none.. So The Iconoclast - comprised of Henderick's Gin, Square One Organic Cucumber Vodka, & Lillet (think cucumber martini-esque).. light, crisp, & clean - perfect for a chef like Eric Ripert!

Trick question, no one would buy either of them a drink.

I would pretend to mistake Bourdain for Andrew Zimmerman. I would order him a New Jersey Turnpike and make a joke about it being a bizarre food. When he informs me that I have him confused with someone else I would tell him that all of the food network people look the same (yes, I would say food network).

And Ripert, he would get one too. Because he is French and all French people are stuck up because stereotypes never lie.

They both get a shot and a beer. As for Anthony, that's what he is supposed to do - eat and drink like the locals.
Ripert? I just want to see that snobbish lip curl he does. They both should eat some of whatever low fuss snacks are on the bar!

I'd send Tony a spiked Shirley Temple and Eric a perfect dirty martini.

A beer. Quit with the exotic stuff, you're in Philly.
