We're told that Philly's location of Le Pain Quotidien, the international bakery/light fare chain that is better than Panera Bread, will be opening before year's end at 1423-25 Walnut. Feeling the vaguely reassuring "Soon..." placard on the top left there.

I sure hope this is true.  Eager for updates and for the grand opening.  What a treat it will be to have this establishment in Center City.  Could not shine the shoes of Panera Bread.  Two entirely different levels of quality and atmosphere.

Agreed. This is by no means a Panera by any standard. The food is excellent and so fresh. I am a former D.C resident and I was delighted to pass by Walnut St. and see the sign. I cannot wait until the opening.
