Meal Ticket was recently invited to check out the new lunch menu at Jose Garces' Chifa (707 Chestnut St., 215-925-5555, chifarestaurant.com).

Launched in late March, the two-course lunch option is referred to as the Hiram Bingham Express, a reference to the American explorer who's credited with introducing the ancient city of Machu Picchu and, more broadly, Incan culture as a whole to the curious non-academic world. That's cool and all, but we know y'all are hungry so here is the deal on food for the not-cheap but not-excessive price of $18, you get to choose one starter and one main. That charge includes a non-alcoholic beverage, though we'd recommend ponying up for the Five Spice Manhattan. If you're feeling crazy hungry, all items are available a la carte; there's also a $25 chef's tasting.

Clockwise from top left: empanada with jumbo lump crab, sweet chile reduction and shaved cucumber; Solterito Arequipeno, an edamame salad with queso fresco, tomato, toasted garlic dressing and a side of plantain chips; Red Curry General, with coconut, jasmine rice, crab, machas, tofu and eggplant; and a noodle bowl with Chinese white noodles, chile short ribs, sesame seeds, cilantro, red chile and bok choy.

Full lunch menu (and a dessert pic!) after the jump (menu source: chifarestaurant.com).
