Guess who's back: The Blue Comet

It's been quite a journey for Scott Acker, owner of Glenside's Blue Comet (106 S. Easton Road) — after 14 years in business, his liquor license was revoked in August 2008 due to a lapsed renewal payment, a mistake that Acker 100 percent owns up to. He filed for reinstatement the very next day, but it took the PLCB six months to return a "not a chance" verdict. Acker took his case to the Court of Common Pleas, and a judge, recognizing the bar owner's situation and his dedication to charity over the years (he's a booster for the Cheltenham Police and D.A.R.E., among other causes), officially recommended that he deserved another chance. That was in April 2009; the PLCB finally gave him the green light on March 17, 2010, and two weeks later he was able to buy the Blue Comet's bricks back from the mortgage company. Acker tells Meal Ticket he hopes to reopen the rockabilly bar — same interior with the exception of a few updates, same lunch/dinner menus, same approach to live music — this Friday, June 11. Welcome back!

Wow, I haven't even thought about this place in years. It was always a great spot to hit up before a show at the Keswick. I will definitely be paying a visit. Who's coming with me?

I was there on Sunday to see the Hellcats. Except for few betterment changes inside & out, in the words from Dave Mason's song, It's like you never left. Keep on Rocking Blue Comet and Scott Acher.

Great Atmosphere, Food, Friends, and Music. Besides, I can't say anything
bad about a place that has fresh squeezed orange juice and vodka.

Comet's back and better than ever! It's a great little neighborhood bar with a retro vibe. Food is amazing, great menu with specials that change daily. Atmosphere is unique with a outdoor smoking area complete with fountain that's completely secluded. Bar drinks are delicious and always made with fresh fruit, basil and mint and for beer snobs--beers on tap change frequently. Live acustic music on Saturday nights from 6-10pm and of course live Rockabilly on Sunday's for which the Comet's famous for. No sports here, just old black and white movies on the TV. Great place to escape the usual sports bar scene! Low lighting, fabulous food, candles lit and music in the background....what's not to love about the Blue Comet?
