Is Bobby Flay really coming to West Philly? Yes.

Grub Street earlier today noted this Bobby Flay quote, from an Examiner.com interview by Charles Thorp, that more or less corroborated the long-standing rumor that the fifth location of the superstar chef's Bobby's Burger Palace is fixing to crop up in University City (specifically, inside the Radian building at 3925 Walnut):

CT: So a lot of people out there are awaiting the location of the 5th Bobby's Burger Palace, can you tell us where it's going to be?

Flay: Hmmm...maybe...let me run it by my business partner because we made an offer on a location and think it's going to be accepted! Don't go anywhere...

[...]

OK, I'll come close because it's not actually signed but we're pretty sure we're going to get it. All I can tell you is the next one is going to be in the state of Pennsylvania on the grounds of a university.

Well, a source close to the Radian deal told us earlier today that though pen has not yet been put to paper, it definitely "will get done." So there you go. Three Iron Chefs Flay, Masaharu Morimoto and new guy Jose Garces will soon be rubbing elbows in Philly.

Phoodie is very upset by this.

Does everyone remember when Drew Lazor judged an episode of Throw Down? It was at the Pop Shop in NJ. I wonder if Bobby will remember him...

Poncho! Yes, I thought of this as well- Drew and Bobby Flay have a long history together. I hope that this means an exclusive meal ticket interview with Flay.

[...] Flay burger joint that’s opening this coming Tuesday, April 6 in the Radian at 3925 Walnut. (First noted it back in December.) The offerings are not really any different from the Iron Chef’s four other BBP locations, [...]
