This half of Team Meal Ticket is taking a little trip to Los Angeles starting this Wednesday. I pray that I do not run into either of these psychotic broads. Also, I'm hoping to eat and drink a lot of good things. If you've got a spot I should check out, leave it in the comments! I'll be sure to check back in next week with a full recap of the trip. That is, if I am not eaten by a demonic mud-caked homeless man who lives in a dumpster behind Winkies Diner.

I spent the summer in LA. My brother and I repeatedly went to the tapas place called Cobras and Matadors (it has a few locations now) and were always pleased. The chickpea pancakes with goat cheese and honey are the best ever. I also would say you have to go to grand central market and order a birria taco. It's so good.

Drew, I've never been to L.A. but I do love me some Mulholland Drive. Have a great trip.

I was just there a couple weeks ago! This is a bold claim, but the burger at Father's Office might my favorite burger ever: it was that good. Also, I had the Kogi tacos, but not from the truck - there is a bar in Culver City called the Alibi where you can also get them, with a much, much shorter wait (http://www.thrillist.com/los-angeles/kogi-brick-mortar).

El Cholo: http://www.elcholo.com/ and be sure to go to the one on Western. Get the green corn tamales if they're in season.

Pink's: http://www.pinkshollywood.com/ I highly recommend the chili dog.

Duke's Malibu: http://www.dukesmalibu.com/ Food is so-so. Sunset is awesome.

Bahn Thung: http://www.laweekly.com/locations/bahn-thung-397695/

Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles: http://www.roscoeschickenandwaffles.com/

You must drink and dance at The Short Stop in Echo Park, then get a Hollywood Dog from the ladies outside the bar at 3 a.m.

Hollywood Dog = bacon-wrapped dog with jalapenos, mustard, mayo, ketchup, fried onions and LOVE.

Also in love With Mullholland Drive. In terms of food suggestions, you definitely need to go to Real Food Daily (RFD). It's vegan and even with my love of meat, I still think about the food I ate there. Also, go to the SaddleRanch Chop House. The food is whatever but there are three BIG draws: Unlimited mimosas during brunch, it was featured prominently on Rock of Love, and there is a mechanical bull inside the restaurant that you can ride (and that you will ride after the unlimited mimosas). LA RULES!

I will second the recommendation for Father's Office (which I think is in Santa Monica). The burger is incredible and the beer selection top-notch.

And it goes without saying but... In-N-Out Burger is a must. Double-double animal style!

Pizzeria Mozza! (if you can get in)

and In-N-Out, duh. I second the vote for a double-double animal style, with a milkshake.

No specific recommendations, but you should check out Korean and Chinese restaurants -- I wish I had more than that for you, but Google it. There are a ton of Chinese immigrants (Asian immigrants of all sorts, really) in LA and a high concentration of recent immigrants makes for delicious eating.

I went to LA a couple years ago to visit my brother, and while I had a lot of good meals there, the one I remember the most, and crave the most is the Chinese food we got in a nearby town called Alhambra. I cannot give you a specific name of the place I went to, but the town is full of eateries, and I understand they are all authentic, and good. I've never had Chinese food like this before, and I haven't been able to find Chinese food like this anywhere around here. It frustrates me. Also, after dinner, we went to some dessert place and got a shaved ice dessert that had flavored syrups and fruit, that was also soooo cool. Have a great trip, and I hope you get to check out something in Alhambra. Oh, also... I think it helps to go with a person who can speak a Chinese language, but you can get by without.
