Musical milkshakes rotate at P.Y.T.
P.Y.T. owner Tommy Up as only he can caused a stir earlier this week when he called out The Roots' ?uestlove for comments made to Newsweek regarding society's role in influencing the actions of Donte Johnson, the accused murderer of Sabina Rose O'Donnell. (Questo took this stance prior to the Newsweek piece, too, garnering a huge response on our sister blog Critical Mass.) Up stated that Questo did not contribute to O'Donnell's memorial fund as he said he did. Up, tapped for more elaborate comment yesterday by CritMass editor Molly Eichel, said that he wants to avoid further negativity surrounding the issue but did point out that he's made a menu change at his Piazza burger joint. An alcoholic milkshake named for Questo has been removed from the drinks menu and replaced with another sucked-through-a-straw shoutout. Diplo's Key Lime Pie is at mix-up of Key Lime liquor, Gosling's rum, lime juice, vanilla ice cream and crushed graham crackers."When we first started the [O'Donnell] fund, Diplo donated right out of his pocket, and he did it without being asked," says Up in an email. umm Posted 2010-06-25 12:36:54

Possible for you to at least spell the name of the deceased young lady correctly?
My mistake. Fixed.
I understand Mr. Up wanting to avoid further negativity around the issue, but I'd personally like to know what ?uestlove's sponsors think of his little essay, the Newsweek article, and what's looking more and more like the FACT that he never donated a penny to the Sabina Rose O'Donnell fund. This isn't some local musician who should be blown off; we're talking about a Grammy award winning artist who's on television 5 nights a week and has a Nike sneaker named after him, among other things. How many Twitter followers does he have? It's nice that Questo has a friend at Newsweek trying to do damage control for him, but I think it's high time the man apologized and then shuts his stupid mouth about the whole matter.

WOW donte johnson made newsweek. i bet his momma is proud! and he did it via Amir. Standing on the shoulders of giants leaves me cold. MEN need to STOP RAPING WOMEN. and other men need to STOP MAKING EXCUSES for how rape could happen. Perhaps the lyrics of MUSIC could do a better job of subconciously influencing rather than promoting and glamorizing the negative uses of beauty and life.
"MEN need to STOP RAPING WOMEN" And maybe stop murdering them, too. And apologizing for murderers.
Wait, is that PYT place still open? The owner should stop worrying about what Questlove is saying and start focusing on his lame ass excuse for a restaurant. Poor service, lame food and boring atmosphere should be his concern. What kind of serious restaurant allows the employees to wear sandals? Seriously? I've never had worse service.
