New tenants for Cellini's

POSTED: Wednesday, July 28, 2010, 4:08 PM
Filed Under: Openings
Hoagie stop Cellini's (1710 E. Passyunk Ave.) closed recently, much to the chagrin of several commenters on our Sandwich Tour 2010 post. But now we're hearing that the space will become a prepared-foods store, with "mid-October" set for a target debut. A partner in the project tells us that most of the details are still up in the air and that the building needs a bit of pre-opening TLC; we will have more info for y'all soon, so stay tuned.

This is actually sad. I love all the new life on the Avenue, but I wish the old-school merchants would spruce up their stores to appeal to all the fresh blood. With just a little TLC, Cellini's really could have held their own as a specialty Italian market/deli and would be a great complement to Green Aisle.
