Colosseo Pizzeria (1501 Spring Garden St., 215-751-0200) is now open in Fairmount, and we stopped by earlier this week for a peek. Partners Sal Mannino and Pino Villico are veterans of the Philly pizza game, with ties to J&J in South Philly and Mamma Mia's off Rittenhouse. Mannino designed the duel brick ovens showcased in the bright 15-table dining room. The menu is centered around pizza, but also includes pasta, panini, and some interesting appetizers (tripe, arancini, grilled calamari). Colosseo is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7  a.m. to 11 p.m.

I'd be curious to hear what other people think of their pizza. We got their San Gennaro and were really disappointed.

I've been in there a number of times since they opened and LOVE their pizza! I've had a few different kinds and they are all excellent. I will definitely be a "regular" here.
