Peek at The Franklin's spring cocktail list, launching Monday

The Franklin (112 S. 18th St.) turns its latest seasonal menu live this coming Monday, and Meal Ticket was fortunate enough to get a preview of the list that we're excited to share here. Here's the rundown on what you'll be spending your ducats on in PDF.

What separates this menu from The Franklin's past two bitter-bathed battle plans? The latest menu features 34 drinks, and 25 of them were contributed by staffers — "undoubtedly representing the style and personality of our barkeeps more than either previous [menu]," according to head spirits slinger Al Sotack.

The "Required Reading" section features the bar's interpretations of nine classics, including the stalwart Old Fashioned (it's our favorite in the city) and Bucks, Aviations and Fizzes. There are sections for both low-impact cocktails and serious ass-kickers ("because sometimes you want a drink with teeth") — we're fixating on the "Improved Genever Cocktail," which brings together genever gin (Dutch gin, maltier and more whiskey-like than your average), maraschino liqueur, absinthe, demerara (sugar in the raw) and orange bitters. "Sweet & Vicious" drinks feature fruity elements (muddled strawberry, orange marmalade, peach preserves) backing up high-proof hooch. Punch drinks and a section brilliantly dubbed "Booze in a Glass" round out what we'll be tossing back to usher in the warmer months.
