OK, so we were reluctant to post these shots of the Marigold Kitchen Farewell Dinner that we ate two Saturdays back, for fear of seeming like That Guy (Tasting Menu Edition). But what the hell now that Steve Cook, Michael Solomonov and outgoing MK chef Erin O'Shea are edging toward opening Percy Street Barbecue at 900 South, and chef Robert Halpern's Sept. 1 takeover of the well-heeled West Philly BYO is getting close now's as good a time as any to share.

Cook, Solomonov and Shea, the three chefs who've run Marigold in its modern era, got together for this six-courser. Needless to say, it was one of the best meals we've eaten in a long time. Rundown of the menu, which you can also check out after the jump:

  • Trio of savory truffles (goat cheese, foie gras, pistachio), chicken liver croquette, poundcake with ham and peaches (Cook, Solomonov and O'Shea, respectively)
  • Beef carpaccio with steak tartar and beef tongue-stuffed olive (Cook)
  • Sweetbreads with sweet potato gnocchi, arugula jus, pine nuts (Solomonov)
  • Rainbow trout with smoked potatoes, grapefruit, poppyseed vinaigrette (Cook)
  • Quick-smoked salmon with fried green tomato, yellow squash, buttermilk vinaigrette (O'Shea)
  • Lobster-stuffed ribeye cap, foie gras, sour cherry (Solomonov)
  • Tapioca pudding with lime, vanilla and pineapple (O'Shea)

Still full.

Chef Halpern, who we featured here on Meal Ticket last month, has got a lot to live up to but given his pedigree and his plans for the 46-seater, the new Marigold seems poised to be just as exciting.
