theamateurgourmet.com - The Amateur Gourmet shares his favorite things of 2010, including recipes, books and restaurant meals. I will most definitely attempt Thomas Keller's roast chicken with root veggies; the step-by-step pictures make me feel a bit easier about it. - Where were you in 1995? I was probably wearing a flannel swooning over Gavin Rossdale, but Jack Curtin's Liquid Diet shares what other, more important Philadelphians were doing to shape our current state of Beertopia. Dubbed The 1995 Project, it chronicles the "where-were-they-then?" of our local beer scenesters. Cheers! - Eatocracy shares a link from the L.A. Times regarding a marijuana dispensary's unique and successful joints-for-food campaign. For every four cans of food brought to the Santa Cruz location, one joint was given out. Trading food for weed in the name of charity. So L.A. - Hot Knives offers tips on beating the winter jiggles, including workouts I'm much more inclined to attempt because they all take place in the kitchen. There is also a helpful video showing just how effective the exercises can be. Any takers on a liver lifts partner? - Fact: my dad was given a very nice (and pricey) chorizo for his recent birthday, and he and I ate the entire thing, while standing, in a matter of moments. This slideshow on Spanish cured meats from Saveur is informative, but it makes me smile, as I reminisce about those special moments with dad. Eating chorizo. - SlashFood offers up bubbly tips for the broke ass "budget minded," listing sparkling wines under $25. Fear not, none come in jug-form. I wish you all a very happy new year. Be safe, eat more and stay sassy. XOXOXO juliana Posted 2011-01-01 02:48:38
