Five Spice Duck
C is for Cayenne Cookie

Every Wednesday Meal Ticket pokes around the food blog world to see what's simmering.

-- Whither thou, Five Spice Duck? Oh, there you are. Back from an interminably long hiatus (Labor Day weekend dinner post! Sheesh!), our favorite sporadic blogger hits us with a recipe for Dark Chocolate and Cayenne Pepper Cookies. Wooo-eee!

-- What do you call a scandal-ridden, sweetheart-deal-funded, infant-corrupting, totally hideous Wine-O-Matic dispensing machine? We don't know, and you won't be finding out in Philadelphia supermarkets, either. Grub Street Philly explains.

-- Foobooz polled us gluttonous, functioning-alcoholic-types-around town earlier this year in the service of a little annual list called Top 50 Bars; thus the comment wars began. One disgruntled Belgian bar owner has recently fired over his bow with a missive to Art Etchells that begins like this: "Not sure your list really matters anyway BUT...". It gets juicer than a Christmas pomegranate here.

-- This didn't even blip the radar screen and it totally should have: East Passyunk is getting a craft beer bottle shop in early February, from beer geek fantasy-babes Gena Montebello and Michele Aquino. Adam at Blogalicious has more.

-- For the absolute procrastinators: The Restaurant Club has a last-minute foodie gift guide that you can get done today. Leave now.
