Much like anyone who's watched Nick Fury: Agent of Shield, Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St.) has a tortured relationship with David Hasselhoff. In November of 2009, a Hoff-loving cat burglar stole a signed Hoff poster out of the second-floor restroom. The bar replaced it in December then it was stolen again in May of this year. Now, owners Doug and Kelly Hager have replaced the Hoff portrait once more, and they're celebrating its unveiling a special happy hour this coming Sunday, August 15. Beginning at 9 p.m., they'll run special pricing on "Hoff"brau beers, and chef Jeremy Nolen will be cranking out various Hoff-inspired specials, like the Baywatch Burger (a healthy, Cali-inspired turkey burger with avocado, sprouts and tomato) and the diametric-opposite Beefcake Burger, basically a meatloaf mix topped with bacon and cheddar. At 10 p.m., they'll switch their TVs over to the premiere of the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff, which will be absolutely brutal. If you're looking for freedom from the usual Sunday night doldrums, you should probably attend.
