Chef/managing partner Steve Gonzalez has pushed the opening of his pizza/wine bar Zavino (112 S. 13th St.) initially set for the day after Christmas to next Wednesday, Dec. 30. Team Meal Ticket dropped by the spot yesterday to grab a few photos of the interior. (Food shots to come.)

Gonzalez, a Southwest Philly native and Vetri alum who last worked for chef Marco Canora (Hearth) in New York, describes the pies as "close to Neapolitan style," but what sets his apart is a not-too-tall crust. The seven-pie lineup at his cozy 40-seater ranges from the classic (a margherita, with tomato sauce, basil and Claudio's mozzarella) to the unconventional (a Philly cheesesteak tribute's got bechamel, provolone, roasted onions and bresaola, or Italian cured beef). There are antipasti, veggie and cured meat selections, plus a small selection of app- and entree-size plates, including beef carpaccio, braised pork and ricotta/kale cannelloni. (Check out the full opening menu after the jump.) The vino in the name comes into play in the form of 30-some-odd vines spanning producers like Italy, Spain and Argentina. Beer and cocktails, too.

The original plan for Zavino was to serve lunch and keep the bar open till 2, but that's since changed. To appeal to late-night munchie sufferers, Gonzalez will now stay open from 5 to midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 5 to 2 Thursday to Saturday, with grub available till the closing bell.
