If you're in need of some very, very fresh bread for this Thanksgiving, note that Michael "Challahman" Dolich's excellent Four Worlds Bakery (4624 Woodland Ave.) will be open on Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. He'll have all sorts of rolls, breads, bagels and, of course, challah available for purchase.

In case you somehow missed our ginormous Thanksgiving guide or are feeling like a little Mexican alternative this week, check out Mexican Thanksgiving at Xochitl (408 S. Second St.), which is running from November 22 to 28 (save for Thanksgiving day, when they are closed). The family-style feast is $35 per person, and includes a starter of sweet potato and blue cheese guacamole; turkey breast with mole poblano; turkey leg and cornbread tamales; huitlacoche, chestnut and apple stuffing; collard greens with Chile de Arbol; and habanero cranberry sauce.  The feast concludes with coconut pie with quince jam.

God Bless the crew at Philly calzonerie D.P. Dough (33 S. 40th St.) for putting together this holiday-themed frisbee of deliciousness: It's the Thanksgiving Zone, a dough pocket stuffed with cubed turkey, stuffing, gravy and mozzarella cheese, along with a side of cranberry dipping sauce. It costs $6, is available for the next two weeks (at least) and, unlike most Turkey Day meals, does not require that you bite your tongue while your extremely racist Uncle Randy talks about Obama in order for you to enjoy it. Brilliant. Eat this immediately!

The Food Bank of South Jersey is hurting. Demand shoots way up during the holiday season, and with Thanksgiving right around the corner, the Food Bank has found itself a couple thousand turkeys short. But it's more than just turkeys, says volunteer coordinator Dan Getman. The Food Bank gets 90 percent of its food from the federal government, but for the rest, they rely on individual and group donations. It's in that last 10 percent where they're feeling the hit right now. "We're giving away more than we have to give," Getman says. He stresses that every little bit helps: If every kid in Camden donated one can of food, it would amount to a couple thousand pounds of food to go to the needy. "That alone would make a huge difference," he says. Though the Food Bank serves four counties in South Jersey, they accept donations from everywhere. If you're interested in helping out, read on to see how you can do so. - Hold a food drive at your office, church, school, wherever. Register online and check out the Food Bank's suggestions to inject some fun into your food drive. Some corporations are putting together whole meals in boxes, which Getman says is extremely helpful, as it takes away the stress of using government-funded food. - Donate a turkey, or $17 (the cost of an individual turkey), to the Food Bank's Turkey Drive. They're about 7,000 turkeys short for the upcoming holiday. - Ideal items to donate: Canned fruits and vegetables, as well as holiday items, like candied yams and stuffing. Government-funded food is more "generic" items than seasonal goods, says Getman, so all that tasty holiday stuff is what they're really looking for.

If you are growing more food than you need, visit www.AmpleHarvest.org - a site that helps diminish hunger by enabling gardeners to share their garden produce/herbs with neighborhood food pantries.

The site is free both for the food pantries and the gardeners using it.

Backed by Google.com and the USDA, nearly 3,000 food pantries nationwide are already on it and more are signing up daily.

It includes preferred delivery times, driving instructions to the pantry as well as (in many cases) information about store bought items also needed by the pantry (for after the growing season). A free Ample Harvest iPhone app is also available. See www.AmpleHarvest.org/CNN.php for recent CNN coverage.

If your community has a food pantry, make sure they are registered at www.AmpleHarvest.org.

Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag it ain't: This Sat., Oct. 30, from 8 to 10 p.m. all three Drinker's locations (Drinker's Pub, Drinker's West and Drinker's Tavern) will celebrate Halloween with 50-cent Bud Lights and well drinks. And the best part? For the entire holiday weekend, their Old City location (124 Market St.) will be turned into the city of Springfield's choice dive, Moe's Tavern.
Courtesy of Drinker's
You will see all the locals , like Homer, Marge (that's her above!) and Duff Man (OHHH YEAH!). There will of course be signature Flaming Moes, though there's no official word yet on what the substitute for Krusty's Non-Narkotik Kough Syrup for Kids will be. You can cop a pint of Duff beer from the bartender, but there will not be any Fudd, because as we all know it was pulled off the market after all those hillbillies went blind. Entrance to Moe's to open to the public, and there's no need to go all The Shinning to get access to the cheap drink deals — all you have to do is sign up at least 24 hours in advance here. P.S. Screw Flanders.

Grey Lodge Pub in the Great Northeast (6235 Frankford Ave.) will host the 22nd Friday the Firkinteenth™* — the only FtF of the 2010 calendar year — this coming Friday. For those unfamiliar, FtF is a long-running tradition at Grey Lodge — any Friday the 13th sees proprietor Mike "Scoats" Scotese and Co. tapping firkins of cask-conditioned ale (3o in total this year!) in random succession and d0ling out 8-ounce pours to any and all comers (cash only). This time, they'll kick off the festivities early, at 9 a.m., with a special breakfast menu available. You can check out the behemoth (but still incomplete!) cask lineup on Grey Lodge's website. And keep an eye on the bar's Twitter feed to figure out what's run out and what's fixing to be tapped. * That's right, the phrase "Friday the Firkenteenth" is now an official registered trademark of the Grey Lodge.
