Okay, well, these 10 food-centric flicks aren't exactly going to make the same box office billions as The Wolverine or Fast & Furious 6 but we're pretty stoked about this list compiled by the fine folks at First We Feast.

First up we've got two movies sharing the title Chef, one starring Bradley Cooper and the other with Robert Downey Jr. Then there are a trio of good looking booze docs, one following Michael Jackson i.e. The Beer Hunter and the second, Somm, that tracks four aspiring Master Sommeliers and another focusing on bar culture in the U.S., from up-market cocktail makers to flair-factor cocktail competitors.

Head on over to First We Feast for a bunch of good old fashioned time wasting trailers and lots more food flicks.

Johnny Utah's, the mechanical bull-centric concept popular with urban cowboys in NYC, is coming to Philly, taking over the space most recently held by Buckhead Saloon (461 N. Third St.). The grand opening is set for April 26 and it looks like they're in the thick of hiring shot girls and waitstaff right now. What's being overlooked here, at least in our view: Johnny Utah happens to be the name of the greatest Big 10 quarterback-turned-fed in cinematic history. And we also happen to already have a coffee shop called Bodhi (410 S. Second St.). Ahhhhhhh! It begs the question: Will the Philly JU's serve a meatball sandwich? (Nothing on the New York menu.)  If so, we're definitely getting two. Vaya con dios.

The Hunger Games, to the surprise of no one, destroyed the box office this past weekend. But it really freakin' raked it in, man, earning $155 million, a number that made it the third-richest debut of all time, behind only The Dark Night and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Games' straight cash cow status, of course, means we're buried up to our mockingjay broaches in unauthorized merch! Example: The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook, which features more than 150 dishes inspired by passages in Suzanne Collins' books. Each recipe, from "Katniss' baked shad" ("The bones in the shad mirror the skin and bones that our heroes are slowly becoming.") to the utilitarian "no-nonsense wheat dinner rolls" of District 13, is complete with bibliographic info referencing moments in the dystopian YA trilogy.

Meal Ticket's got a copy of the cookbook for you, so you can get a head start on planning your Blu-Ray release party that will involve forcing your college friends to wrestle each other over the last ladleful of wild groosling chili. All you've got to do, between now and 5 p.m. tomorrow, March 29, is write a caption for the image after the jump and leave it as a comment. Make it funny, make it stupid, make it memorable. And be sure you register/comment with an email address you check frequently, as that is how we'll alert our winner. May the odds be ever in your favor or whatever the fuck they say in the movie.

Documentarian David Gelb's film about world-renowned sushi chef Jiro Ono starts at Ritz at the Bourse (400 Ranstead St.) tomorrow. It's really inspiring. Here you go with the trailer. Hop over to CP's film section to read our review.

Aside from offering wood-fired pies, the new Nomad Pizza (611 S. Seventh St.) is also hosting movie nights on its second floor (above). Co-owner Tom Grim, who recently opened the doors with partner Stalin Bedon, is as passionate about films as he is food — he worked as a projectionist during his college years and previously ran an outdoor movie series in Princeton, and says he bought the former Horizons space with the express intent of using the upper level as a screening venue. They partners have a state-of-the-art projection system and screen, and are able to accommodate between 40 and 50 cinephiles. "I love the concept of a more social movie experience — eating and drinking with friends while watching an amazing film," says Grim. The next film on the roster — they're covering all genres — is Amelie, which they'll play this Wednesday, Feb. 29. Screeings are every Wednesday and Sunday; the full list of upcoming features can be found on Nomad's website.

Received a odd package in the mail at CP HQ today containing this baby-blue tee, featuring the following screen-printed message:

YOU MUST MAKE
GELATIN AS
HELLION FRONTS
AND VEGANS ARE
AGAINST IT RAISE
DEAD ON PLANET GELATIN

Anyone familiar with the Toynbee tile phenomenon, magnificently explored in the 2011 doc Resurrect Dead, will recognize the font and layout. But why such love for something as innocuous as gelatin? And why such disdain for vegans, so marked that they're lumped in with the "hellion fronts" discussed on many of the Toynbee tiles? Mystery of mysteries. Hmm, there's a South Philly return address on the envelope. Perhaps we'll go knock up this weekend.

Show your honey you care this Valentine's Day with the gift of excessive violence! Frankford Hall (1210 Frankford Ave.) will be holding four movie nights, from Feb. 13 to 16, in honor of what sometimes turns out to be the bloodiest holiday of them all. The "love-themed" films are as follows (OK Princess Bride isn't all that gory):

Monday, Feb. 13: True Romance
Tuesday, Feb. 14: Natural Born Killers
Wednesday, Feb. 15: My Bloody Valentine
Thursday, Feb. 16: Princess Bride

Screenings start at 7 p.m. and they'll do happy hour-pricing for drinks, as well as movie concessions like Junior Mints, popcorn and Sour Patch Kids. The screenings will be held in the outdoor portion of Frankford Hall if the weather is nice.

I feel like Hot Diggity! (630 South St.) just like gets me, man. First they put out all these delicious hot dogs with lovely stuff stacked on top of them then they announce their intentions to eventually introduce craft beer in bottles, and now they've revealed that they're launching a series of bad movie nights. (Have you seen the movies I review for CP?) On Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 9:30 p.m., the Diggity crew will host a BYOB viewing of Troll 2, the cult classic widely considered to be one of the shittiest flicks of all time. (It was the subject of the recent documentary Best Worst Movie.) Available at the shop, $20 tickets include admission, hot dogs, access to a build-your-own toppings bar, fries with dipping sauces, milkshakes and spicy kettle corn popcorn. OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD! Co-owner Keith Garabedian says they hope to host these screenings biweekly; seminal titles such as Samurai Cop, The Wicker Man, The Room and Plan 9 From Outer Space are on the short list.

UPDATE [5 p.m.]: Unfortunate for us, Garabedian checks in with bummer news that Hot Diggity! will not be introducing beer in the future after all. That's OK, though — you can always BYO, and they're rolling out a selection of craft sodas this weekend. Expect options like Bruce Cost Ginger Ale, Fentimans Dandelion, Maine Root Blueberry, the infamous Moxie and Philly-fave Levis Champ Cherry.

The folks promoting the new Colin Farrell vampire remake Fright Night (we're seeing it tonight, shoutout to McLovin and the unique appeal of Toni Collette!) will be canvassing the city tomorrow in a branded food truck, handing out free thematic eats like "Steak Stakes," "Garlic Chips" and "Blood Red Popsicles." You can spot the vehicle in Rittenhouse starting at 10:15 a.m.; it'll then move to JFK Plaza at 3 and finish up its Philly run at McFadden's (461 N. Third St.) at 7:30. Follow the trucks whereabouts via @buzzboPHILLY.
