- Sansom Street's 1518 Bar & Grill is on the review block this week, and Adam Erace spends most of his time trying to figure out what concept the mixed-up restaurant is actually going for. Gastropub? Mediterreanean kitchen? Neighborhood bar? Smokehouse?! This is confusing.

- Adam Erace shoots up to Mica, Chip Roman's currently-BYO restaurant in Chestnut Hill, to see what the Blackfish owner and his chef Jason Cichonski are working on. He discovers "surgically precise" cuisine that suggests it could become "one of the area's most exciting restaurants." He also describes as a lady as a "jeweled flamingo in a green pashmina."

- If you'd like to chug real-deal cider make to strict colonial specifications (small batches, local apples, natural fermentation), check out Revolution, a new cidery out of Northeast Philly.

- Adam Erace takes a trip up to the Northeast to get down on fried chicken, banchan and of course tabletop barbecue at Bobo's, a Korean BBQ restaurant run by three women known only as "Auntie."

- A Matter of Taste: Serving Up Paul Liebrandt, a documentary that follows the lauded NYC chef for nearly 10 years, debuts early next week on HBO. You don't have to be an expert on chef-type matters or Michelin stars or post-post-post-modern cooking to enjoy it, as it's simply an interesting movie about food.

- In Feeding Frenzy: Word on the now-open Art of Bread, plus quickie details on The Twisted Tail and Guacamole Mex-Grill and lots of other odds and ends.

- In Agenda: Emily Apisa breaks down the Philly Brewing Co. fried chicken run tomorrow (eats courtesy of South Philly Tap Room).

- Also in Agenda: Cassie Owens reminds you that Odunde, Philly's huge annual African new year festival, is going down this Sunday. There are few better places to eat.

- Adam Erace tests the waters at the new Chinatown location of Erawan, who's been serving killer Thai at 23rd and Sansom forever. He somehow channels Wiz Khalifa while discussing green and yellow curries. Cheers to that, and cheers to Erawan's golden bags (read on).

- Though we weren't hungover at the time, we took on a few recipes from Milton Crawford's The Hungover Cookbook to determine whether or not we'd be able to accomplish them while full of stale whiskey. Results were largely successful, though please please PLEASE no blenders.
