U-City's long-running La Terrasse, at 3432 Sansom (on one of the coolest blocks in the city, don't you think?), recently took in some consultation and has overhauled its entire menu. Everything's been simplified, with prices kept very reasonable — there's also a build-your-own pizza option now. Check out what they're serving in full after the jump.

Lunch will be served there Monday to Friday from noon to 3 p.m. Check out this week's CP food section for Adam Erace's official review of Barbuzzo.

Dropped by Jill Weber's Jet Wine Bar the other night, already hopping with neighborhood folk in its first few weeks of glass-filling existence. The space (1525 South St.) is two levels — a fun little curved bar, with a drink rail and a bit of table space, up top, and more intimate banquette seating on a lower level. The glowing blue/purple lighting scheme throughout gives Jet a bit of a mod-era British airline feel, a little shout to Weber's profession as a globe-scouring archaeologist (she's affiliated with UPenn). Though the wine list (check it in PDF form) highlights a few irreverent countries of origin (Morocco and Greece to name two — try a glass of the super-piney, one-of-a-kind Retsina, imported by Gai'a), there's also space for several Pennsylvania-sourced offerings. Chef Matt Zagorski (Rouge, 500 Degrees, etc.) has whipped up a straightforward menu (DL it) of snacks, cheeses, charcuterie, tarts and hot sandwiches (the speck and sottocenere's real nice). Oh and here's perhaps the most original happy hour deal in town — every day of the week, from 4 to 6 p.m., you can get a glass of Fino and two scones (fresh-baked by Edna Cruz of Nook Bakery & Coffee) for $6.

The Village Belle (757 S. Front St.), the new Queen Village restaurant from the Campanaro clan and their longtime FOH friend Michael Romeo, has just started rocking it out at Front and Fitzwater, the longtime home of Frederick's. They've done one hell of a job shedding that old-school trattoria's dated design elements — many of the walls have been stripped to the original brick, and wraparound windows let in loads of natural light. The 90+ seat dining room's split up into three distinct areas, featuring burgundy banquettes and a checkered-tile "bistro" section half-framed by an in-operation service station; the bar, a beautiful, 26-foot-long single piece of mahogany, is the main focal point of the restaurant's south side, which also features a mini wine closet and neat photo-on-glass treatments of various real-life village belles on the bathroom doors. Chef Louis Campanaro, brother to chef Joey Campanaro of NY's Little Owl and Market Table (Joey's involved in this project, too), is doing a neighborhood-friendly Mediterranean-influenced  (not strictly Italian) menu, with housemade pastas. Check it out here:

Opening hours are Mon.-Wed., 5:30-10 p.m. and Thu.-Sat., 5:30-11 p.m. Closed Sundays for now, but the crew's looking to start up Sunday brunch eventually.

Last week, we were invited to a preview of Granite Hill, Stephen Starr’s "new" restaurant at the Art Museum. (Check out our early coverage of SRO at PMA here and here. All these acronyms, WTF!). Starr took on the task of transforming the museum’s old restaurant during its off hours, because you can’t just close one of the most popular museums in the country to rework a burger. While there is still more work to do (Starr’s first words upon entering Granite Hill were a note to change the lights), the flagship restaurant is morphing into a French café in Fairmount Park.
Courtesy of Granite Hill
The name calls back to the history of the Art Museum, but the food will call to the present exhibitions. On our visit, we were treated to a special salad inspired by the Pistoletto exhibit running through January. Regular menu highlights include fried Blue Point oysters with madras curry remolade and petite vegetable slaw; jumbo lump crab cakes with shaved vegetable salad and Euro cocktail sauce; potato fried Schnitzel with fried egg, lemon caper, heirloom tomato and watercress; and the "Le Haute Dog," a D'Angelo Bros. chicken, veal and pork sausage with toasted Gruyere on a brioche bun.
Courtesy of Granite Hill
We predict that the Hill Burger (above) — a blend of brisket and short rib, topped with melted fontina on a truffle sesame bun — will become the talked-about item at Granite Hill.  Alongside both the burger and the dog come twice-fried Kennebec potatoes — crispy on the inside, mashed potato-esque inside. Here, in PDF form, are the dinner, brunch, beverage and dessert menus. Granite Hill is open for lunch Tuesday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  To coincide with the "Art After Five" program, Friday dinner is available between 5 and 7.

On Tuesday, Adam Erace shared the interesting news that The Khyber (56 S. Second St.), which was earmarked as a new-look izakaya by its owners back in August, would instead go Southern under the watchful food eye of chef Mark McKinney, who runs the show at Royal Tavern and Cantina Dos Segundos. Here's a PDF of the new menu, which will go live in full on Thursday, Nov. 18. Starting this coming Tuesday, Nov. 9, the Khyber Pass Pub (as it'll now be known) will run a preview version of the menu, which includes eats like fried chicken, gumbo (above), fried oysters, Carolina-style BBQ pork, fried green tomatoes,  po'boys (on Leidenheimer rolls) and even a big ol' New Orleans-style muffuletta sandwich. Daily specials, too. The Khyber Pass Pub will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., with food served until 1 nightly.

Fathom Seafood House (200 E. Girard Ave.) is just about ready to open in Fishtown (check out our very early word on Fathom back in the summer). Mike Stollenwerk, of Little Fish and fish fame, is at the head of the sustainably sourced raw bar and seafood-centered gastropub. The menu will feature updated comfort food including lobster grilled cheese, swordfish schnitzel, cod pierogies and "Fathom Fries" topped with crab, spiced crab gravy and cheese curd. (Join us in crossing our fingers for some whole belly clams.) The 24-seat concrete topped bar will have a strong local presence with 10 beers on tap and over 40 bottles and cans. Fathom will be open seven days a week, with happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 12 p.m. to close on Saturday and Sunday. UPDATE: Food and beer menus, after the jump!
