I spent a long weekend visiting Portland, Oregon (the Valhalla of food and drink?!?!) and I've gotta say, Portlandia jokes aside, that town is killing it. Friday's lunch happened at Grüner, a super sleek German spot with a killer wine list, all sorts of wonderful house-made charcuterie and the best check presenters I've seen. Because, after all, who doesn't want to get their bill in a 1960s German novel.

On Friday I headed up Broad Street for a backyard wedding in Elkins Park. It was a lovely spread with plenty of Prosecco, a buffet with all sorts of sliders and southern food and surprise appearance by the Little Baby's trike for a scoop of peanut butter-maple-tarragon. Back in the city there was punk rock karaoke with a few 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelons, a PBR at The Station and then a few more at The Dolphin.—CR

Friday night checked into the Borgata for a more low key-than-it-sounds weekend that commenced with tender prosciutto-wrapped meatloaf over like-mom's mashed potatoes at their casual Metropolitan Cafe. (It was late, we were starving and hadn't made reservations at any of the casino's fancy spots.) But between pricey room service breakfasts, we followed that up a slam-bang meat at American Cut at Revel on Saturday night, a dinner starring a globe of tuna tartare and a bone-in rib eye with pickled ramps.—AE

Friday night was a high-low affair that kicked off with killer happy hour cocktails at Vedge. I went with a Strawberry Southside (gin, lime, mint and muddle strawberries) and gingery Whisky Buck. I made my way back home and debated dinner plans. At the risk of losing all food writing credentials I ended up going with a few slices of frozen pizza (I know, terrible) before hitting Ray's Happy Birthday Bar and The Dolphin.—CR

Popped into El Zarape on Friday night for a quick dinner and can't say it was my favorite experience there. The joint, which usually delivers, was busy and warm and the mahogany mole my enchiladas de pollo were not up to snuff. Must have been an off night. Womp.—AE

I kept it close to home on Friday with a late dinner at The South Philly Tap Room, opting for the crispy fried chicken wings with jalapenos, horseradish spiked seafood cocktail and secret sauce topped burger before heading over to the why-is-this-place-so-damned-close-to-my-house Dolphin.—CR

So I spent the weekend in Montreal, and those of you who follow me (@foodsyoucaneat) know that I had a lot to eat. It was altogether too much of everything that my doctor tells me not to eat. I’m going to attempt to cover all of it here—let’s call this “Montreal’s Greatest Hits”.

The original Friday plan was to take it easy with a bottle of rose and some takeout from Circles but a glass or two into the bottle I was persuaded to get off the couch and head over to The Industry for some buffalo sweetbreads, pig ear lettuce wraps and a few Reed Streets, a new to the menu cocktail of tequila, Aperol and spicy kumquat syrup. Big thumbs up.—CR

Friday started off quite nicely with an impromptu invite to a.kitchen for a little wine tasting. Killer Arneis and Pineau d'Aunis plus a gorgeous plate of ramp-marinated (ramps!) flank steak with a runny quail egg. Things went from high to low with a few pints of Kenzinger at the Locust Bar before making my way over to Voyeur to see totally amazing sets by Autre Ne Veut and Delorean.—CR

Oh man, my weekends are getting repetitive. Cantina is becoming last year's Santucci's, with take-out becoming a regular Friday-night thing. Got the usual--hey, I have a usual there now--of the mixta salad glossed in a chile pequin vinaigrette that's full of personality and a girthy burrito filled with chicken and all the trimmins.—AE

With plans to spend a three day weekend in Brooklyn, on Friday evening I hopped on the Amtrak for an easy hour and a half commute to New York. I was kinda banking on the train having a bar car and grabbing a beer and something to eat en route but this particular train was the no frills. Not that any food writer worth her salt should be admitting things like this but Friday dinner ended being a can of Coke on the subway before heading to my friend's totally insane Weekend at Bernie's meets 80s New York themed dance party, Weekend at Basquiat's.—CR
