Monday, September 13 Recap of the penultimate Top Chef D.C. episode finds the final four battling it out in Singapore. The "urban chic" Liberté opens in the Sofitel this fall. Elizabeth "Baker E" Halen will take over the Flying Monkey Patisserie in Reading Terminal Market. Adam Erace gets wokky with his final Top Chef Not So Quickfire. Fuel, Two Cents Plain, Adsum, South Philly Tap Room and Garces Trading Co. are just a few of the spots Team Meal Ticket ran through in Notes from the Weekend. Tuesday, September 14 Stephen Starr releases some prelim details (chef included) on his upcoming 18th/Sansom pub. What the hell is a pawpaw? Read on to learn why you should eat them immediately. Wednesday, September 15 Restaurants south of South Street have banded together to kick off a Restaurant Week of their own. Hop Angel Brauhaus, from the owners of Grey Lodge, is now open in Fox Chase. Center City will soon get Elixr, a café brewing coffee from Chicago's Intelligentsia. Village Whiskey launches a full-of-dealage Saturday afternoon happy hour. Thursday, September 16 UPenn's Museum has a new eatery called Pepper Mill Café. Real oysters have found their way back into Yards' Love Stout, and the results are very tasty. Top Chef D.C. is all over — here's our final episode recap of the season. Congrats to chef Kevin Sbraga! Friday, September 17 Commonwealth Coffee will be opening soon at Sixth and Christian. Check out the menu for the last Starr-curated pop-up dinner, headed up by Scott Schroeder of South Philly Tap Room, Cheesesteak cookies, with real meat and onions? Just one of many offerings on deck for the upcoming Cookie Confidential. The all-vegetarian Indian quick-serve spot Philadelphia Chutney Co. just opened on Sansom Street.

Monday, August 30 This chick ate 99 tacos! We attempt to come up with a clever Jay-Z-related title and fail miserably! PBandU, a restaurant that serves an all-peanut-butter menu, opens in Wayne. Law and Order: SVU and Meerkat Manor are two things that come up in this Top Chef: D.C. recap. And we are sorry about that. Adam Erace makes some chicken 'n' grits for his Top Chef Not So Quickfire recipe challenge. Tuesday, August 31 Notes from the Weekend went up a little late this week, but we still managed to discuss random wildberries (DON'T EAT THEM ... see comments), doughnuts, fried squid and a veal chop the size of Subaru Forester. Happy Hour Hopper hits up the sweet deals at Swift Half in the Piazza. Wednesday, September 1 A new healthy-eating concept called Freshii is coming to Center City. Local chef and Hell's Kitchen competitor Siobhan Allgood lands a head chef gig in South Jersey. A friend of Meal Ticket checks in with a report on Le Whif, aka inhalable chocolate (?!). We do Mexican spots love taking five or more types of meat and putting them all on one sandwich? It is amazing. Thursday, September 2 Prive in Old City shuts down, and it looks like it's becoming a sushi place. Granite Hill is name of Stephen Starr's takeover of the Art Museum's main restaurant — check out the menu. In the last episode of Top Chef D.C. before the two-part finale, Padma dresses like she's in the Rat Pack, Bourdain and Ripert develop a sitcom pitch and there's also a little bit of cooking. Friday, September 3 Fruit smoothies from McDonald's — would that qualify as delicious or suspicious? First details on American Sardine Bar, a new concept from the South Philly Tap Room team. Looks like talented chef Steve Gonzalez is out at Zavino. Tyson Bees is an on-wheels Asian-grub operation launching later this month in Philly.

Monday, August 23 We challenge critic Adam Erace with a bunch of weird ingredients (pickled lettuce?!) for his Top Chef Not So Quickfire, and he comes out smelling like a canned sardine rose. Wanna be on Food Network? They're casting for The Next Food Network Star in Philly on Aug. 31. Cupcake wars warz, Fond memories, secret drinking spots, Bmore goodness and plenty more in Notes from the Weekend. Tuesday, August 24 West Philly's Milk & Honey Market will open a second location. Wes Lieberher of Vintage is relocating to the West Coast, joining a team of Philly restaurant expats to open a food truck biz called Grindhaus. Details on Grindcore House, the brand-new vegan coffee shop in Pennsport. Wednesday, August 25 Baker Michael "Challahman" Dolich of Four Worlds opens his brand-new bakery and retail space this week. Berry Sweet is the name of the new frozen yogurt spot on South Street. The Khyber era is over, indicated in part by the bar's overhauled Twitter page. RIP! Thursday, August 26 Santucci's Square Pizza, long relegated to the Northeast, will open a much-anticipated location near the Italian Market. Salt & Pepper is close to finalizing a deal to move to East Passyunk Avenue. Friday, August 27 Speaking of P'yunk — Plenty is the name of the prepared-foods mart that will be opening there soon. Mitch Prensky of Supper will host Edward Lee of Louisville's 610 Magnolia for a special dinner this week. Valerie Safran and Marcie Turney are poised to open their latest restaurant, Barbuzzo, this week. Check out tons of details and photos.

Monday, August 16 Down Avalon way, The Diving Horse decides to extend its serving season. Jesse Kimball of Memphis Taproom hops over to sister bar Local 44 to revamp the menu. For his latest Top Chef Not So Quickfire, Adam Erace participates in a cooking relay race — with his mom, brother and cousin. Team Meal Ticket heads to the biscuit-lovin' south, downashore and out for Thai in Notes from the Weekend. Tuesday, August 17 NoVi, in Fairmount's CityView condos, is now known as Philly Pub 'n' Grub. PB&U is a restaurant inspired by and based around ... PEANUT BUTTER. We dig. Happy Hour Hopper takes a seat at Tweed and gets down on some great food/drink deals. The Food Trust is launching a series of night markets, featuring all sorts of Philly street-food faves, next month. Wednesday, August 18 Fond has revamped its menu for the late summer, and we got it. The entry deadline for A Full Plate's popular rib cook-off is fast approaching! Flying Monkey Deuce unveils a pretty little garden room for its customers. Thursday, August 19 Grindcore House, a brand-new vegan coffee shop in deep South Philly, opened over the weekend. The Jersey Shore offers ample opportunity for poor decision-making — including a pork roll stand that serves fried butter. Amada is running its ridiculous heirloom tomato tasting through this Wednesday — check it out in pictures. Friday, August 20 Bistrot La Minette's Sept. 1 burgundy dinner looks like a killer. If you are curious about that "from beef head meat" menu category at the delicious Los Taquitos de Puebla — we take through it just for you. Top Chef gets all Johnny Dangerously in its 10th episode, prompting plenty of Danny Trejo talk and the age-old question — why do famous chefs like to eat off their knives on TV?

Tuesday, August 3 Bartenders Christian Gaal and Phoebe Esmon team up with Philly Distilling for a cocktail dinner at Koo Zee Doo. Fifteen bucks will get you a three-course lunch at Butcher & Singer through August. Supper is the latest destination for Happy Hour Hopper. David Ansill of Ladder 15 is planning an awesome-sounding tailgate menu for the upcoming NFL season. Wednesday, August 4 Buy some Rescue Chocolate this month and your purchase with benefit PAWS. Kanella's Konstantinos Pitsillides is cooking food from the Levant for the next Starr pop-up. Wednesday, July 14 Bodhi Coffee and Green Aisle Grocery are teaming up for maximum local/sustainable power. Lucky Old Souls, the long-awaited bar/music venue in Newbold, will have a liquor license hearing on Aug. 4. Show up! Thursday, July 15 This "Maine Event" seafood/beer dinner at fish sounds amazing.
