Selleck Waterfall Sandwich is a Tumblr that features photos of Magnum P.I., accompanied by various sandwiches, Photoshopped into idyllic waterfall scenes.
The image above features our very own cheesesteak kicking it in a tropical locale with Mr. Baseball himself. You can tell it's a cheesesteak because it is wearing a Phillies hat.
Selleck Waterfall Sandwich is hands down the greatest Web site we have ever seen and it makes us question why we're even attempting to do this whole blog thing. Way to make us feel like Salieri, jerks.
Thought of y'all immediately first time I saw that tumblr. (Make you feel any better?)
[...] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Amy Strauss and Meal Ticket, Christine Fisher. Christine Fisher said: RT @mealticket: We will never, ever be able to come up with something as good as Selleck Waterfall Sandwich http://bit.ly/d1Go9S [...]
This past Wednesday, Yards dropped by Hulmeville Inn with some Old Bartholomew as part of the brewery's 10 Days of Barleywine tour. (It wraps up tonight and tomorrow; details/locations in What's Cooking.) Anyways, Yards founder Tom Kehoe bet the Hulmeville crowd that they couldn't kick the Old Bart firkin in under 45 minutes. They kicked it in 31 minutes. And then this happened. Johnny Castle don't got it like this.
The Hulmeville Inn is quite a place.

Steve Cook, Erin O'Shea and Michael Solomonov, the team behind Percy Street Barbecue, recently took a journey to Texas to pick up their meat smokers and, more importantly, research the BBQ craft for their forthcoming joint at 900 South. Filmmaker Chandler Kaufman has put together a beautiful HD feature on the trip. It's not embeddable just yet, but hop over to Vimeo to check it out.
UPDATE: Video is now embeddable. Check it out after the jump.
Percy Street BBQ documentary from Chandler Kauffman on Vimeo.
[...] Last Friday, we teased a few photos of Percy Street Barbecue (900 South St.), which will open to the public this coming Tuesday, Nov. 17. Today we’ve got a few more shots of the Elisabeth Knapp-designed interior, as well as the opening food, beer and cocktail menus after the jump. Much more on the spot next week; for more right now, peep filmmaker Chandler Kaufman’s feature on the spot. [...]
[...] For background on the project, check out Chandler Kaufman’s documentary feature. [...]
But when, oh when, will it open? I'm hoping the answer is "before November 12," which is when my Texan friend comes to visit. Can't you guys trick them into giving an estimate?
Emily: They're tough nuts to crack! The best I've been able to get so far is the third week in November, so quite possibly right around your Texan's visit.
PhilthyBlog's Conrad is at again, dropping in to Capogiro's 13th Street location (his place of employment outside the blog world) to capture the process behind the Cioccolato Calda con Panna, a super-thick Italian hot chocolate with a side of whipped cream.
Bene fatto!
We tried our damndest to think of a reason not to post this.
We failed.

He is a terrible person and should be Banned from the entire city.
This guy is such a joke - he lies, can't act work a you know what, treat women like trash and is just repulsive all the way around. He'll be sweeping the floors at 7-11 in no time, assuming they will hire him
Team Meal Ticket dropped by the Wachovia Center this past Wednesday to check out Appetite for Awareness: A Gluten-Free Cooking Spree. Organized by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) and sponsored by Thomas Jefferson, the evening featured a slew of local chefs preparing dishes designed specifically for those with celiac disease one in 133 Americans cannot consume gluten, the protein inherent in wheat, barley and rye products. The purpose of the evening, aside from raising awareness about the disease, was to highlight the fact that local restaurants are ready, willing and able to accommodate celiac diners.

Huge thanks to our very own Neal Santos for the video.
YA WELCOMEEEEEEEZ

Pigskin Gourmet is a new Philly-based Web cooking show from Philly fans Cecil E. Rudd and Brent Evans, who share tailgating ideas for season's eatings. They drop a new episode every Friday before gameday. Check out the latest installment above, where the duo prepares strawberry-jalapeno chicken wings, buffalo chicken dip and stuffed celery.
I tried the strawberry jalapeno wings and they're awesome! Great combo of spicy and sweet!
Check out this video of Philthy Blog's Conrad visiting with North Port Fishington Cookie Factory baker Mike Landers at South Street's Philly Kitchen Share.
Kelly White profiled Landers' all-vegan baking business for CP back in 2007.
Oh man...that looks good
he makes the best baked goods ever!!
Seriously good! Mike gave us a box of sample goodies (not that I wouldn't have paid) that we ate 'till like 4am. I don't know how he does it.
Freshly returned from the wilds of Chicago and Mercat a la Planxa, new Amada chef de cuisine MacGregor Mann offered to show Team Meal Ticket a few of the restaurant's 11 new menu items. (Check him out in action above.) The plates are the restaurant's biggest menu change to date; you can get them a la carte or try a featured eight on La Mesa de Jose tasting menu ($55) that runs through August.

One of the simplest recipes, a Cordoban gazpacho called salmorejo (above), is featured in our food sidebar this week. But we didn't have enough room in print to include info on the gorgeous garnishes that elevate this soup from fresh and healthy to totally decadent we're talking diced hiramasa (buttery kingfish), serrano crisps, hard-boiled egg pressed through a chinois, strawberry paint, infant sorrel and black olive dust.
After the jump, try your hand (and blender) at Amada's official recipe just as we received it, including the methods for the salty serrano crisps and fluffy egg garnish.

This Beer Summit feature from Pittsburgh's KDKA (featuring booze podcaster Should I Drink That) is innocuous enough. But skip to the 2:15 mark, when bepearled anchorwoman Mary Robb Jackson announces her personal pick for the one beer to neutralize racial strife Yards' George Washington Porter, part of its Ales of the Revolution series. She says it's brewed in "Pennsylvania," but doesn't shout out Yards or Philly by name. Aw, c'mon Mary!
