M, you got it! This is the OG Cacia's down on Ritner. Picked up some cannoli for friends there the night before Thanksgiving. It was the most amazingly South Philly thing ever when I ordered.

Me: "Half a dozen cannoli, please?"

16-year-old counter girl: "Ricotta or chocolate?"

Me: "I'll do three and three."

16-year-old counter girl: (to Matriarch in Apron) "We need three and three!"

Matriach in Apron: (to Jolly Middle-Aged Italian Bakery Man) "Yo, three and three cannoli up front!"

Jolly Middle-Aged Italian Bakery Man: (to 16-year-old Kitchen Boy) "Three and three, we need three and three!"

16-year-old Kitchen Boy: (to everyone) "What's that, you need three and three?"

I used to stop there on my way home from school when I was a kid. I know the place well. I'll have to grab a cannoli next time!

Tim McGinnis just checked in to let us know that American Blackboard, the South Street restaurant he previewed along with his brother Jason Roberts back in October, will not be happening after all. He alludes to a philosophical difference in direction between he/his brother and the owners of the space (1516 South St.), the principles of what was formerly known as Philly Kitchen Share. Guess we're going to have to wait awhile to try this venison stew he shot us a pic of awhile back. Damn! "I'm simply planning on leading a more peaceful existence," McGinnis has to say in regards to his immediate plans.

What's going to happen to American Meats & Provisions? Does this mean they're going away too? Those sandwiches were killer.

The crew from Pub & Kitchen (1946 Lombard St.) will hold court at the next Amis industry night, scheduled for the night of Monday, Dec. 6. Stop by the in-the-biz-friendly trattoria (412 S. 13th St.) beginning at 11 p.m. to grub out on P&K chef Jonathan Adams' Churchill sliders (shrink-rayed versions of their new signature burger), pork terrine studded with pistachio and brandied cherries ("Pulling out my old terrine-making notes from Chef Perrier," says the Brasserie Perrier alum) and a smoked haddock salad with potato, dill, apple and creme fraiche. To drink, P&K will haul in a coupla kegs of their Sixpoint signature brew, plus a gang of the Sazerac rye they've been aging in their own white oak barrels in the back.
