Notes from the Weekend is a feature that sees the members of Team Meal Ticket compiling all the food/drink highlights uncovered during prime eatin' time, Friday to Sunday. We'd love to hear all about YOUR weekend eating adventures in the comments. Go for it! (View past NFTW installments at citypaper.net/notes.)

Spent this weekend in Orlando for some good, clean, impromptu family vacation time. Friday night, C and I caught a six-thirty flight out of PHL full of tiny children and tiny old folks and arrived in MCO ready to grub. Found a lovely little cantina called El Porto, where I fortified myself on fajitas and a terrific caldo de pollo, a kitchen-sink soup full of carrots, broccoli and chicken you dress up like posole with table-side additions of cilantro, chopped onion and lime.—CR

On today's Afternoon Snacks, we've got panforte for Christmas, a half-price deal on gift cards, good news for fans of Taco Tuesdays or Sunday tapas tastings on 13th St., and an industry night coming up in Old City.

MT head Caroline Russock visited stadler-Kahn (1724 Sansom St.) in City Paper’s gift guide with plenty of great ideas for the holidays, and now the shop is adding one more of the edible variety into the mix. Owner Alex Stadler is now selling Panforte Azzardo (shown above), handmade in Vermont by his brother Daniel. It comes beautifully wrapped for $20 for an 8-ounce cake—and a little goes a long way with this intensely flavored holiday treat full of spices and citrus zest. You can place a special order for the cake through Dec. 19 for delivery in time for Christmas Eve.

In case you're the type that likes to celebrate all the way through December rather than waiting for Christmas to come around, Pub and Kitchen (1946 Lombard St.) has you covered. Starting today, they're doing special "Christmas dinner" prix fixe menus—a different one each week—to help get you in the spirit. The prix fixe option is available Monday through Thursday each week for $35 a person, with the option to add a beverage pairing.

To set the scene, the P&K crew will be serving up suppers centered around festive roasts tailored to the holiday season—pork loin with brown ale and prunes, lamb shoulder smoked with pine and juniper, and beef tenderloin with horseradish cream and Yorkshire pudding. And because it's often the little things that really make a holiday feel special, you'll also find extras like oysters, brandy-soaked Cashel blue cheese, and sticky toffee pudding to round out the four-course offerings.

Christmas is coming a little bit early this year at Amis (412 South 13th St.) tonight. For this month's Industry Night they're going to be welcoming Gianluca Demontis of Melograno  (2012 Sansom St.) Expect Roman-inspired holiday fare (gratis, of course) plus winter warmers like rum-spiked hot cocoa and boozy hot cider on special. As per usual the party starts at 10 p.m. but you and your pay stub might want to show up a little early this evening to check out the premier of the Philly episode of The Layover at 9 p.m.

Last week, we told you about some changes at Lemon Hill (747 N. 25th St.), including plans for a reimagined cocktail menu from Al Sotack—the first such change since the Fairmount spot opened. Well, the winter cocktail menu went live this weekend, and it's definitely worth checking out. You'll find plenty of seasonal citrus and no shortage of intriguing little touches like cranberry-sage syrup, rosemary honey, and mole & orange bitters. And while we recognize the Blues Explosion, the new menu represents an otherwise top-to-tail makeover.
