Meal Ticket just caught word that Yakitori Boy's noodle offshoot, Ramen Boy has shut its doors in order to prepare for a rebrand. Sometime in the next two weeks the none too well received ramen joint will reopen as Terakawa, a New York based soup spot.

Terakawa's website provides precious little info but it looks as though the Gramercy location serves up takoyaki, gyoza, Tokyo fried chicken curry along with ramen offerings including Tan Tan (ground beef) and Mayu (charred black garlic) along with the standard shoyu and miso. New York prices run $9 to $10 a bowl and extras range from $1 to $2. Curries, lunch boxes, pork fried rice, and a collection of Japanese soft drinks round out Terakawa's menu.

We're looking forward to welcoming another contender to Philly's burgeoning ramen scene. See you in a few weeks, Terakawa!

We've got to have it to our intrepid friends over at Serious Eats, those guys are not afraid of anything. Spam Taste tests, truly bizarre booze, every single slice of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory, bottled ranch dressing, you name it and chances are the brave souls at SE have given it a whirl.

SE's latest foray into the world of taste testing looks quite promising indeed, at least for entertainment value or next time you're thirsty at the mall. They've got columnist Seema Gunda sipping her way through the wine lists at popular chain restaurants, kicking off the series by tasting through the 23 wines on offer at The Olive Garden.

For the best pairings at everyone's favorite endless breadstick and salad emporium head on over to Serious Eats to see what the Chianti and Pinot Grigio situation is all about.

This week, architecture and urban design blog Hidden City Philadelphia chatted up artist Jason Hsu, designer of Little Baby's forthcoming Girard Ave. scoop shop. It's a smart Q&A but the real stars of the post are the renderings of the space, a joyful mash-up of manic prints, off-kilter geometry and pastels. "Pete [Angevine, Little Baby's partner] did reference the Memphis Group–an Italian post modern design group," Hsu tells Hidden City, of the inspiration behind the design. "He also referenced Pee Wee’s Playhouse and other architectural pieces that had some kind of optical twist or warped perspective." Can't wait to see the place in the flesh, which, if all goes according to plans, should be next month.

File this under unlikely but totally awesome: Tomorrow night Alla Spina (1410 Mt. Vernon St.) will be kicking off the first of series of DJ nights. The graffiti'd Italian gastropub is hosting 80s era proto gangta rapper Schoolly D. It's not often that you have a chance to see the dude who inaugurated the trend of shouting out neighborhood gangs spinning Southern soul and truschooll in the confines of a Marc Vetri joint.

If Schoolly wasn't draw enough, there's also a pretty bangin' list of late night happy hour specials available from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. including $3.50 craft cans, $7 draft negronis, $1.50 oysters, and $6 mortadella dogs.

Yards Brewing Company (901 N. Delaware Ave) is hosting The Dude Hates Cancer Event/Cape of Good Hope Launch Party on July 27th from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. In the hopes of helping towards this year's fundraising goal of $100,000, Yards is selling $40 tickets for a night of Lebowski-inspired beer, music, beer, food and more beer. All proceeds will benefit The Dude Hates Cancer organization, which supports leukemia and lymphoma research. The tickets will cover you for brewery tours, live music, light fare provided by Yards and (you guessed it) BEER. Yards will be launching their new epic double IPA, the Cape of Good Hope, which will be on tap all night along with the rest of Yards beers. Several of Philly's most-loved food trucks will be on hand for your eating enjoyment as well, pay-as-you-go style. We're not going to confirm or deny any John Goodman or Steve Buscemi appearances but it's sure to be a good time for a good cause. Tickets available here.

Meal Ticket would like to congratulate George Sabatino of Stateside for taking home the title of Hop Chef last night. His smoked beef cheeks with beer boiled peanuts and pickled watermelon rind beat out some very worthy competitors. And of course, a tip of the hat to Scott Schroeder of South Philly Taproom and American Sardine Bar fame who took home the title of fan favorite for a bluefin crudo with basil seeds and mind blowing roast beef.

Here's to hoping that Hop Chef is only the beginning of a series of booze-fueled cooking competitions.
