Running through tomorrow, Aug. 14, the Amish/PA Dutch merchants of Reading Terminal Market (12th and Arch streets) will host their annual Pennsylvania Dutch Festival celebrating the traditions, foods and crafts of  Lancaster County. This weekend marks the 21st year of the festival, which goes down in the market's center court seating area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some of the delicious traditional foods available include homemade fudge, nut brittle, doughnuts, sausage sandwiches, ice cream, funnel cakes, pot roast, hot ham sandwiches and much more. The festival's closing day looks to be a real treat: The fun will move outdoors to create a county fair right on Arch. There will be buggy and horse-drawn wagon rides around the market, a farm animal petting zoo and live bluegrass. For those driving to the event, discounted parking is available for $4 at 12th and Filbert. I cannot write about the Amish without adding that 'tis a fine barn, but sure 'tis no pool, English.

- Thank goodness for the Internet — I know I can't be the only one who's ever wondered how to make my veggies look more like classic video game power-ups. Thankfully, AnnaTheRed's Flickr shows you, step by step, how to turn a simple radish into a Mario Brothers-style mushroom. Here we gooo! - I've always wondered about what certain bands eat while on tour, especially ones with dietary restraints. Scottish band Mogwai has read my mind and created a Twitter account based solely on what they eat, I'm into it. - Philadelphia Beer Enthusiast shares some awesome news regarding Dock Street Brewing Co.'s plans to brew its third batch of sorghum-based Sudan Grass Ale, which is naturally gluten-free. The beer will be "slightly tart and fruity in flavor; reminiscent of a cider or mead." - As a South Philadelphian and a food lover,  I am very interested in the South Philly Food Co-op. I have participated in their many meetings and events, all in the hopes of making this dream a reality. Are you a "friend" of theirs on Facebook yet? I promise you they don't play Farmville and won't "like" everything you post. - Phoodie makes me feel all old by pointing out that those of us who recall wild Taco Tuesdays at Tattooed Mom's are, well, old. Looks Like Barbarella, aka the upstairs at the Barbary,  is taking over for all you crazy taco-lovin' kids north of Market Street. FYI, I participate in Taco Tuesdays — by making them in the comfort of my AC'd home. Suck it, youngins!

- The recently revamped Twenty Manning Grill is on Adam Erace's plate this week, and he finds that while many of the comforting, familiar (and trend-relevant) flavors work, the menu could still benefit from a shot of excitement. - My Jello Americans is the name of the awesome local blog that features inspired Jell-O shot creations from Fishtown's own Maureen Sheehan and Corinne Kete. Wish we could down a gang of those deviled egg ones right now. - Tons going on in Feeding Frenzy this week, including openings (Sumo Sushi, Chhaya Café), closings (Kingyo) and various other news (Monk's, M Restaurant, Barbarella). - Saison brunches, teeny-apartment gardening classes, straight-up sausage fests and shots of Patronnnnnn in What's Cooking.

Plenty of students complete summer-long internships, but we've never heard of honey bees taking one on — until now. Summer in the City Honey is a joint venture between West Philly's Milk & Honey Market (4435 Baltimore Ave.) and Two Gander Farms. In May, Trey Flemming, apiarist and proprietor of the 23-acre Berks County farmstead, brought seven hives to the city and placed them at various sites in West, North and South Philly (including Milk & Honey's roof). The swarms were able to gather nectar from a diversity of flora in this new urban landscape (including black locust, bush honeysuckle and wild clover), producing honey with flavors far different than if they'd spent the same amount of time in the countryside. The stuff is now on sale will soon be on sale at Milk & Honey at $1 an ounce, and a portion of proceeds will benefit the Philadelphia Orchard Project. UPDATE: Summer in the City Honey will become available at Milk & Honey over Labor Day Weekend.

As Eric Henney so astutely pointed out in last week's What's Cooking, Pumpkin (1713 South St.) is launching a brand-new series of four-course tasting dinners that will be held on the second Wednesday of every month. For this inaugural installment, chef/owner Ian Moroney is teaming up with Megan Murphy, beverage director at White Dog Café, for four this-screams-summer courses, paired with four drinks, for $40 (good deal!). Both establishments pride themselves on sourcing quality local/sustainable ingredients — Moroney, for example, is prepping a dessert of roasted local white peaches topped with shaved foie gras (!), while Murphy's looking to regional faves like Bluecoat Gin and Victory Brewing to wet whistles. Full menu below. The restaurant says they still have some space available for tonight, especially after 8 p.m. Call ahead to confirm: 215-545-4448.

Four Loko, current pole-sitter in the alcoholic energy drink race, is being used and abused like crazy in the summer of 2010 — several friends of Meal Ticket, for example, decided to try their collective hand at SHOTGUNNING THEM over the weekend, which ended about as well as you can imagine. (Just to give you an idea of how volatile the 10+ percent ABV Four Loko tends to be, drinkfour.com is currently being flagged as a threat site by our Firefox.) Leave to Tommy Up to implement his own Four Loko policy. The P.Y.T. owner tells Meal Ticket that he'll introduce frozen Four Loko-based slushies at his Piazza burger joint starting this Friday for happy hour. His brand-new frozen-bev machine churns cranberry lemonade, grape or orange Four Loko with shaved ice; the bad decisions in a cup 12-ounce drinks will cost $4 a pop.

I'm confused, will there be more alcohol mixed in? The cans cost like 2.50, but a smaller slushie (watered down) version costs 4 bux, and thats a deal to be excited about?

You crazy kids.

Munish Narula of Tiffin checked in to let us know that his Bryn Mawr location, at 847 Lancaster Avenue, will open to the public this coming Monday, August 16. It's his sixth overall restaurant, joining the Girard Avenue original and its adjacent Tiffin etc. and locations in Mt. Airy, Wynnewood and Elkins Park. Narula's also working on the upscale concept for the 777 S. Broad building, which you can read about in more detail here.

Much like anyone who's watched Nick Fury: Agent of Shield, Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St.) has a tortured relationship with David Hasselhoff. In November of 2009, a Hoff-loving cat burglar stole a signed Hoff poster out of the second-floor restroom. The bar replaced it in December — then it was stolen again in May of this year. Now, owners Doug and Kelly Hager have replaced the Hoff portrait once more, and they're celebrating its unveiling a special happy hour this coming Sunday, August 15. Beginning at 9 p.m., they'll run special pricing on "Hoff"brau beers, and chef Jeremy Nolen will be cranking out various Hoff-inspired specials, like the Baywatch Burger (a healthy, Cali-inspired turkey burger with avocado, sprouts and tomato) and the diametric-opposite Beefcake Burger, basically a meatloaf mix topped with bacon and cheddar. At 10 p.m., they'll switch their TVs over to the premiere of the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff, which will be absolutely brutal. If you're looking for freedom from the usual Sunday night doldrums, you should probably attend.
