A new coffee shop for Point Breeze, lobster tasting menu and white wine intensives all today on Afternoon Snacks.
A second location of OFC Coffee House is opening tomorrow at 2001 Federal St. Point Breezers can look forward to coffee from local roasters Green Street Coffee and pastries from the neighboring Sweet Life bakery. The coffee shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
It looks like there are still some tables left for both nights of this week’s collaborative, tomato-centric tasting dinners hosted by chefs Mitch Prensky and Peter Woolsey. The four-course tasting will be available (with different wine pairings) at Supper (926 South St.) on Wednesday night and at Bistrot La Minette (623 S. 6th St.) on Thursday. Enjoy local tomatoes at the height of their season, with courses ranging from a rustic tomato tart to a brilliant-sounding michelada-dusted lamb neck. As a send-off, caramels get the nightshade treatment. On both nights, the prix fixe is $35 per person ($50 with pairings). While the pairings at Supper have not yet been set, La Minette will offer a selection brimming with Languedocs and including a refreshing cocktail of crisp sparkling wine and tomato water.
The Insider is reporting that 1 Tippling Pl. (2006 Chestnut St.), a new addition to the Rittenhouse cocktail scene is slated to open its doors tomorrow. The open room resembles a swanky living room rather than a dimly lit speakeasy and the menu focuses on wallet-friendly cocktails both classic and reimagined including a few barrel-aged sips and a selection of seasonal punches. Heading up the bar is David Tang, a Ranstead Room alum trained under New York cocktail magnate, Sasha Petraske.
Along with a selection of cocktails, wines by the glass and craft beer, there will be a menu of retro bar bites, think bacon-wrapped dates and water chestnuts and artichoke dip.
Looks like things are moving right along at Tavro 13, Terence Feury's latest venture. The former Fork exec will be will be hosting a job fair on September 4th, looking to fill 60 front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house slots at the revamped Old Swedes Inn.
With a resume full of big names restaurants including New York's Le Bernardin and Philly's Striped Bass, Feury's Tavro is full of potential, especially given the historic and somewhat out of the way location.
A concrete opening date has yet to be set (we're thinking mid to late September), but resumes for the job fair should be submitted by August 27 via email to hiringtavro13@aol.com.

Note: Welcome to State Store, a column where we hit the Wine & Spirits shops of Philly and see what's new and noteworthy or just plain weird.
Please join us in welcoming Adult Strawberry Milk to the shelves of our fair wine and spirits shoppes. This newly introduced abomination aims to replicate the flavors of Nestle Quik Strawberry (not to be confused with another kind of strawberry quick) but, you know, with booze. Brought to you by the Adult Beverage Company out of White Plains, New York, these are the same folks who have introduced Adult Chocolate Milk and Adult Limeade.
Much like the infinitely more palatable Baileys, Adult Strawberry Milk is a shelf stable blend of blend of cream, vodka and strawberry flavor, oh, and it's pink, as in Pepto-Bismol pink.
Adult beverages advertises themselves as an "wherever, whenever, however" spirit brand but we're thinking that the only "whenever" occasion that Adult Strawberry Milk would be appropriate is late night at a bachelorette party. Maybe.

Today on Afternoon Snacks, we've got a Brew-B-Q, a new beerfest, and tasting menus at Ela.
Ever wanted to learn how to brew your own beer? This Sunday you can make it happen in a casual, beer and BBQ manner at Barcade (1114 Frankford Ave). Starting at 12 p.m., Barry's Homebrew and some other local brewers will be on hand to answer all and any questions about home brewing. The best part is that you will be able to grub on BBQ and craft beers during the lesson.
Meal Ticket recently headed over to 19145 favorite Hardena/Waroeng Surabaya (1754 S. Hicks St.) for an Indonesian buffet style lunch. Here's a look a some of the best dishes on the table.
To those unfamiliar with Indonesian fare the buffet table might look intimidating, but the bubbly and helpful woman behind the counter set the tone for the entire meal. We felt immediately welcome, seated in a slightly dim and unpretentious dining room while our hosts shuffled around the kitchen to prepare our meal.
For $7, you choose 3 dishes from the steam table, including rice and their homemade hot (like really, really hot) sauce. The woman patiently explained each dish and recommended her favorites. The collard greens stewed in coconut milk were deceptively spicy. Perennial favorite beef rendang was pull-apart tender. The watercress greens had a Chinese flavor profile and turned out to be an overall favorite. Vegans and vegetarians rejoice, the buffet has a couple tofu and tempeh dishes along with the veggie options. The lineup changes daily depending on the ingredients available, but just ask for recommendations, they will be happy to provide.
Hardena is open for lunch and early dinner, closing up at 8 p.m. nightly.
Lacroix's ten-chef tenth anniversary blowout has been moved to Monday, September 24th and the final line up contributing chefs has been finalized. This Friends of James Beard charity dinner is going to be an elaborate affair with ten course prepared by ten local chefs. Host Jean-Marie Lacroix and chef Jon Cichon have rounded up a roster of the restaurant's alums over the years including Ela's Jason Cichonski, Michael Fiorello from the Garces Group, Matt Levine of Square Peg, Lacroix's own Fred Ortega, charcuter Matt Ridgeway, R2L's Peter Scarola, Talula's Garden chef Brinn Sinnot, Lee Styer of Fond and Townsend Wentz of McCrossens.
Tickets are going for $350 including hors d’oeuvres and wine pairing. There are only 80 seats for this sure to be memorable dinner, if you'd like to reserve one of them call 215-790-2533.
