The three-year-old Summer of Riesling is a wine-lover's promotion, with the blessing of the International Riesling Foundation, designed to steer drinkers toward the white grape most people identify first with Germany and second with being overly sweet. Though more than 60 percent of the world's Riesling vines do grow in Deutschland, it's a misconception ("a hackneyed belief," officially) that all Rieslings are cloying. Multiple bars and restaurants in multiple cities, Philly included, have signed on to pour three Rieslings by the glass all summer long, in addition to organizing Riesling-based events.

The Ranstead Room (2013 Ranstead St.), Stephen Starr's bar behind El Rey (2013 Chestnut St.), revealed its new summer cocktail list today. The menu features drinks like Tstrumble (tequila, strawberry and lemon), the Ranstead Sling (gin, Benedictine, pineapple and lemon) and the Sunflower (gin, elderflower, Combier and absinthe). For those who are unable to decide, you can still ask for a Bartender's Choice and give the mixologists the chance to create something unique for you. I don't know about you, but I’m pretty curious about this Sunflower ... check out the full menu after the jump.

Tonight from 10 to midnight, slink into Pub & Kitchen (1946 Lombard St.) for a "one-off" industry night hosted by TuB Gin.

They'll be making $3 gin cocktails for the duration of the evening (some special stuff from Sixpoint will be pouring, too), plus they'll shuck free SeaFresh oysters and cook up some meaty surprises courtesy of Pat LaFrieda. And if you're an off-duty bartender looking for a post-shift challenge — you're welcome to get behind the P&K bar and try your hand at an original TuB cocktail. The label will dish out prizes to the best.

Quick bit on the hooch for those unfamiliar: A Philly-based brand (repped by Red Tettemer) that's produced in Colorado, TuB is a small-batch craft gin distilled with multiple varieties of Colorado juniper berries, plus distinctive botanicals like coriander, angelica, oris root and cassia bark.

Tonight at 7 p.m., Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St.) is celebrating its second anniversary in business. To mark the milestone, all draft beers will be poured for $2 off and there will be a free food buffet, too. Chef Jeremy Nolen has decided to switch it up a bit and will be serving smoked brisket and roast pork sandwiches, stuffed clams, a cheese platter and pasta rather than the more traditional German fare he's known for. Co-owner Doug Hager said there's nothing else specific planned besides "partying our asses off." No reservations required, just show up and expect a good time.

NoLibs' Chenango, right next to Arrow Swim Club (1031 Germantown Ave.), offers a thrifty and potentially dangerous brunch deal on Saturdays and Sundays. Shell out $20 and you get a brunch entrée (see menu after the jump), plus all-you-can-drink Mimosas and Bloody Marys. That runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. STAY HYDRATED DURING THIS OK.

Our first president did more than just command an army and run a country: George Washington was also widely known as a master brewer and one mean whiskey distiller. In an effort to relive those days of soused glory, the National Constitution Center (525 Arch St) will host General George's Beer Garden on the center's outdoor terrace next Thursday, June 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.  Drink pints of Yards' General George's Tavern Porter, order up Jack Daniel whiskey cocktails and colonial-inspired food and take in "Discover the Real George Washington: New Views from Mount Vernon," the NCC's new exhibition, before it opens to the public. You can also see how much you've retained (or haven't) from elementary and high school by taking a stab at some George-themed Quizzo. Also note that's almost July 4, and that's just one more reason to celebrate history by shoving our faces full of food and downing tons of beer. Call 215-409-6700 or RSVP online.

Starting at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, Fish (1708 Lombard St.) is teaming up with Italy's coolest brewmaster — Iacopo Lenci (above), owner of Tuscany's Brùton Brewery. Lenci may have been raised as part of an acclaimed winemaking family, but he’s long been known for bending and breaking the rules. Lenci, in collaboration with his father, can be found most days pouring non-traditional craft beers and booking shows at his Tuscan brewpub. Well, not tomorrow — just this once, Fish will step away from pairing wines with their seafood and let this slim punk rock dude with giant sideburns run the show. As the $80, six-course meal unfolds, diners will be able to try specialties such as a king crab dish with Lenci's Bianca (an Italian blonde wheat) and wild boar and salmon with Momus (a malty dark amber ale), all while jamming out to music and learning from one of the biggest personalities in the Italian craft beer movement. Space is limited to just 30 guests and we've told there are only a few spots left; call 215-545-9600 to reserve.

Gideon Gradman, along with his brother Jonathan, logged time researching colonial American ciders at the New York Public Library prior to launching their Revolution Cider brewery in Northeast Philadelphia. The partners sourced recipes from the Horticultural Brittanica, published in the 1600s in England and brought to the new world as a reference for settlers.

"During the 17th and 18th centuries, there was movement to push agriculture to new places and plant apple trees all over," says Jonathan. "Apples are easy to farm, and cider is a great method of preserving apples' nutrition for when they’re not in season."

I've been to the last two Philly Beer Week dinners featuring Michigan's Founders at South Philly Tap Room (1509 Mifflin St.) and can attest to its eternal badassness — that's why it's surprising to hear that there are still a handful of seats left for the nine-course, nine-beer, $90 feast, scheduled for tomorrow, June 8, at 7 p.m. After the jump, check out chef Scott Schroeder's full menu for the evening, including pairings, after the jump. Really liking the sound of crab egg drop soup paired with the mysteriously named "Cashew Experiment" (Founders always busts out some weird, rare stuff for this) and the boozy ice cream and cherry oatmeal cookie sandwich dessert paired with the magical Kentucky Breakfast Stout.
