Need somewhere to get your deal on tonight? Every day during next two weeks, Team Meal Ticket will bring you a daily Restaurant Week pick. We will highlight some of the best deals being offered by officially participating restaurants, as well as some renegade Restaurant Weekers around town. Cure your case of the Mondays with your favorite bottle of vino at one of the BYOBs participating in Restaurant Week. Mercato (1216 Spruce St.) is offering a wide array of menu options this RW, including crispy-skin striped bass and lobster and shrimp pyramid pasta. On the other side of Broad Street, check out the very-fall RW menu at Audrey Claire (276 S. 20th St.), with dishes like a maple-brined pork chop with wild boar bacon and shallot-crusted sole with crispy sage and caper butter.  Make sure you also get to an ATM along with the PLCB, as both restaurants are cash only.

We will highlight some of the best deals being offered by officially participating restaurants, as well as some renegade Restaurant Weekers around town. - Finding a Friday Restaurant Week Reservation is tough. Unless you booked weeks ago, most places are packed tonight, but there are still tables and deals to be had around town.  From the official list, I recommend Zama (128 S. 19th St.) for their sushi (above) and because they are offering an extra fourth course.  They have a steady stream of slots available tonight, according to OpenTable. - Tonight or tomorrow would also be a great opportunity to check out some of the South of South Restaurant Week choices.  James (834 S. Eighth St.) for $35? Sign me up. - Check out Mémé (2201 Spruce St.) on Sunday for their weekly Sunday dinner deal — $37 for three courses and wine. This Sunday's menuw ill feature ricotta agnolotti with corn, truffles and reggiano; roast prime eye round of beef with grilled mushrooms, red potatoes and black pepper gravy; and a chocolate ganache cake with vanilla gelato.

We will highlight some of the best deals being offered by officially participating restaurants, as well as some renegade Restaurant Weekers around town. Last night I found myself at the kitchen counter at Sampan (124 S. 13th St.) taking in the Restaurant Week festivities, and it quite possibly was the best RW meal I have ever had. Four courses (plus soft-serve ice cream for dessert) is one of the best deals going this Restaurant Week; the portions are quite generous, the selections is vast and it's cool to see Michael Schulson working the pass. Go for the edamame dumplings, calamari salad, Peking duck and the sea bass. There are plenty of tables available tonight. Here's Sampan Restaurant Week menu (pick one from each column).

Jose Garces, in an apparent power move to ensure his is the last venue you remember visiting on your day off, is launching a new Saturday afternoon happy hour at his perpetually packed Village Whiskey (114 S. 20th St.). Dubbed "Five O'Clock Somewhere Happy Hour," the dealage will run from 2 to 4 p.m. beginning this Saturday, Sept. 18. VW's pressed-and-starched bar staff will pour $7 whiskey tastes, $6 cocktails, $5 wines and $4 draft beers; to eat, there'll be a mini slider version of the infamous VW burger, plus barbecue pork sliders and house-brined pickle canapes. After the jump, peep the working schedule, through October, of which whiskies and cocktails will be on offer for this mind-eraser of a post-brunch diversion. UPDATE [18sept10]: Here's the rundown for today's happy hour (PDF). 9/18: Rowan’s Creek Small Batch, a 100 proof Kentucky bourbon that is made and bottled by hand in small lots, one batch at a time; The Old Fashioned, Bottle in Bond bourbon, house-made bitters, sugar and lemon. 9/25: Ransom’s Whippersnapper Whiskey, a pot distilled Oregon whiskey with similarities to bourbon, Scotch, Irish whiskey and Dutch corenwyn; The Martinez, Old Tom gin, maraschino, sweet vermouth and Angostura. 10/2: Bushmill’s 10 Year, a triple-distilled Irish whiskey that is aged for at least 10 years in bourbon-seasoned barrels, with aromas of honey, vanilla and milk chocolate; The Commodore, bourbon, lime, sugar, orange bitters and mescal rinse. 10/9: Dalmore 12 Year, a dynamic and varied whiskey aged in American white oak and Oloroso sherry wood for brilliant complexity; The Aviation, gin, crème de violette, maraschino and lemon. 10/16: Suntory Hibiki 12 Year, a Japanese blended whiskey that is part-matured in plum liqueur casks; Ginger Rogers, gin, ginger, lemon, Fee’s rhubarb bitters and sparkling rose. 10/23: (ri)1 Rye, a honey-colored rye with peppery nose, light and dry mouthfeel and glowing, reassuring finish that lingers before quietly slipping away; Village Manhattan, rye whiskey, sweet vermouth and house-made bitters. 10/30: Jose Garces' Four Roses Single Barrel, a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey with fruity aromas, delicate hints of honey and maple syrup and spicy notes; The Brooklyn, rye whiskey, dry vermouth, Torani Amer and maraschino.

We will highlight some of the best deals being offered by officially participating restaurants, as well as some renegade Restaurant Weekers around town. Two restaurant picks for you today since we missed yesterday: - Drop by for lunch or dinner at Tweed (114 S. 12th St.; above), which was just reviewed by CP's Adam Erace. If you're going for dinner, double up on dealage and arrive between 5 and 7 to take in their solid happy hour. Here's their Restaurant Week menu. - Check out dinner at Valanni (1229 Spruce St.), where the entire regular dinner menu, a not just a separate prix-fixe, is up for RW grabs. Choose your first course from the taste/tapas sections, a large plate as your entrée and a dessert from chef John Train's Medi-inspired menu.

As we noted in last week's What's Cooking column, The Food Trust is holding a happy hour, benefiting the non-prof's farmers market programming, at South Philly Tap Room (1509 Mifflin St.) tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. Chef Scott Schroeder says he'll be cooking eats like grass-fed chicken tostadas; potato latkes with homemade apple sauce; fried okra; and roasted patty pan squash with brown butter and sage. Behind the bar, they'll pour discounted pints of Philadelphia Brewing Co.'s Kenzinger and Joe Porter. All food/drink proceeds will go directly to The Food Trust, which has launched three new farmers markets in South Philly this year.

We had brief mention of a South of South Restaurant Week in the latest installment of Notes from the Weekend, and now a total of 10 restaurants geographically ineligible to take part in all the Center City fun have strung together a formidable prix-fixe alliance, demarcations be damned. (We like to think of this group as the scrappy Cutters cycling team from Breaking Away, beating all those prepped-out, well-to-do university students at their own game.) Spearheaded by Kar Vivekananthan of Adsum, the three-course SoS dealage (prix-fixe prices may vary slightly, from $30 to $35) technically kicked off this past Sunday; just like regular Restaurant Week, this one will run through this Friday and then pick up again from Sept. 19 to 24, though some participants are plowing straight through (and some are doing additional courses and wine/cocktail pairings). After the jump, a full list of participants, plus menus and relevant links. As always, reservations are recommended. - Adsum (700 S. Fifth St.) (menu PDF) - Gnocchi (613 E. Passyunk Ave.) (Call 215-592-8300 for menu details) - Hoof + Fin (617 S. Third St.) First Course: Choice of House Salad OR Empanadas Criollas, corn and cheese or beef OR Cornmeal crusted calamari, tomato, onions, peppers salad with a Smoked Orange BBQ Sauce Second Course: Choice of Gnocchi, Ricotta style, sage, truffle brown butter, capers & shaved grana padano OR Asado, sampler of different cuts of meat and sausages grilled to perfection OR Grilled Scallops over a potato frittata served with Provencal sauce and grilled vegetables Dessert Course: Choice of Tres Leches Cake OR Banana Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream OR Panqueques, thin crepes filled with Dulce de Leche and strawberries - Izumi (1601 E. Passyunk Ave.) (call 215-271-1222 or see their website) - James (834 S. Eighth St.) First Course: Choice of housemade country pate, pickled pears and dried cherry mustard OR butternut squash soup, granny smith apple and sage Second Course:  Choice of Atlantic salmon bathed in EVOO, smothered onions and Swiss chard- and bay-scented white wine sauce OR wild mushroom risotto, aged balsamic Dessert Course: Choice of chef's selection ice creams OR lemon mascarpone panna cotta, local berries and their syrup - La Fourno (636 South St.) (Call 215-627-9000 or see their website) - The Latest Dish (613 S. Fourth St.) (Call 215-629-0565 or see their website) - Paradiso (1627 E. Passyunk Ave.) First Course: Choice Of Crispy Chicken Livers, Carmelized Onion, Vin cotto OR Heirloom Tomato, Fresh Mozzarella, Roasted Peppers OR Arancini di Riso, Roasted Pepper Puree OR Baby Spinach, Roasted Pear, Pancetta , Parmigiano Reggiano, Cider Vinaigrette Second Course: Choice Of Fettuccine Pomodoro OR Spaghettini, Swordfish , Spicy Puttanesca Third Course: Slow Roasted Porchetta, Haricot Vert, Yukon Gold Potato OR Speck- and asiago-stuffed chicken, spinach aglio olio OR Skate Milanese, Baby Arugula, Lemon Aioli Dessert Choice Of Venetian pice pudding, Grappa-soaked cherries OR ricotta and mascarpone cheesecake, fruit compote, crème anglaise - S&H Kebab House (611 E. Passyunk Ave.) (Call 267-639-3214 or see their website) - Southwark (701 S. Fourth St.) (They will be serving a version of their menu with special pricing)

To celebrate the sixth-season premiere of FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia this Thursday, Sept. 16, Square 1682 (121 South 17th St.) will be giving away 200 free lunches, from 11 a.m. until those babies are gone. The bagged meals will include a crispy chicken breast topped with a sunny-side-up egg,  frisee and a bacon-soy viniagrette (aka chef Guillermo Tellez's "It's Always Sunny" chicken sandwich, available on the menu with garlic-parm fries for $12);  a bag of chips; and a house-baked chocolate cherry blondie. The event is first-come first-serve, and 1682 recommends you come earlier than later as they are sure to go fast. I personally would of preferred a milk steak boiled over hard, but this sounds like a pretty great deal instead.

Need somewhere to get your deal on tonight? Every day during next two weeks, Team Meal Ticket will bring you a daily Restaurant Week pick. We will highlight some of the best deals being offered by officially participating restaurants, as well as some renegade Restaurant Weekers around town. Tonight, check out Dinner and a Movie at Bistrot La Minette (623 S. Sixth St.). From Sunday to Friday for the entire month of September, Peter Woolsey's restaurant is celebrating a deal of its own — three courses for $30 ($5 cheaper than Center City), or $42 with wine pairings. Click here for the full menu. Combine this deal with the ever-so-sexy film screenings running this month in La Minette's courtyard and you have a date night that even Nicholas Sparks would approve of. Showings take place on Monday and Thursday evening through Oct. 28 (here's the full schedule). Tonight’s movie is Christophe Honoré’s Dans Paris, starring Romain Duris and Louis Garrel. Seatings for the movie are at 8:30 p.m., and plenty of tables are still available.
