- Peter Woolsey, chef/owner of Bistrot La Minette, gets a byline this week with his piece about what it takes to come up with a new menu at his restaurant. There are myriad considerations when developing his bill of fare, but it usually begins with him being kinda drunk.

- Adam Erace is impressed by chef Anthony DiRienzo's cooking at Starr seafooderie Route 6, even if management ID'd him as a critic and gushed/hovered a bit unnecessarily. His can't-miss dish is the chicken-fried lobster tails, but there are plenty of other strong Maine-to-Maryland dishes to get into.

- In Feeding Frenzy: Nomad Pizza and Paris Wine Bar are new this week, while Bierstube is still wet behind the beer ears in Old City.

- In What's Cooking: V-Day plans galore, including a kid-friendly pizza class with Marc Vetri, baking classes at Whipped, an anti-Valentine dinner at Teri's and more.

- On a more serious note in News: Isaiah Thompson reports on an apparent city crackdown on feeding the homeless who live on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and if it's connected to the impending debut of the new Barnes Foundation.

- Adam Erace visits In Riva, on the banks of the Schuylkill in East Falls, to try out chef Arthur Cavaliere's pizzas and Southern Italian small plates. He's able to get over the slightly vexing name to appreciate the top-notch pies, though he IDs room for improvement elsewhere.

- In Feeding Frenzy: Tokio Global, Marrakesh Express and Green Olives are off and running, PBR's got a new chef and Nomad Pizza's coming soon.

- In What's Cooking: Vegan wing-off at The Abbaye, Dickens by the fire at The Dandelion, a taste of a new local brewery at Perch Pub and more.

- Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby already won Big Vision honors for their ambitious Vedge — and now it's Adam Erace's turn to dish out some critical plaudits. "I won't say Vedge is a great vegan restaurant," he writes.  "Because it's not. It's a great restaurant, period."

- Brian Wilensky breaks bread with The Really Cooks, Philly's self-proclaimed "food rock" band, to try and figure out what the hell that actually means. The West Philly-based foursome, which posts recipes on its website and just launched a food review blog, is playing at Dobbs next week — and the audience will likely leave full.

- Interstate Draft House in Fishtown gets the review treatment from Adam Erace — there's plenty to love on the super-affordable menu from Supper and Hawthornes vet Adam Scott, but some room for improvement, too.
