We're obviously children of Generation Blog here at Meal Ticket, but you absolutely MUST pick up our brand-new spring food issue IN PRINT in addition to perusing it on the web — it's one beautiful book, thanks to the hard work of CP's Reseca Peskin, Allie Rossignol, Alyssa Grenning and Neal Santos, not to mention illustrator Joel Kimmel, who did both the outside and inside covers. Cop yours immediately!

Here's a rundown of what we've got for you inside.

- Adam Erace visits Stephen Starr's uber-hoppin' Dandelion to take in the 'ello-there-guvnah charm of the smash-hit Rittenhouse Brit-pub. There's kitsch and drama aplenty behind the whimsical curtain at 18th and Sansom, but our critic discovers that Englishman chef Robert Aikens is putting out some inspired Anglophilic fare.

- The prices are so very right at 20th Street's Yamaki Sushi, but with the budget-friendly menu comes some inconsistent fish. And yes, we tried a "Cheese Steak" roll in case you're curious!

- In Feeding Frenzy, digest details on the brand-new Farm and Fisherman (opening tonight) and several to-come projects, including Hop Sing Laundromat and Mica.

- Laurel Rose Purdy has your food/drink agenda on lock in What's Cooking, sharing details on this weekend's stout brunch at Johnny Brenda's, next week's five-chef collab dinner at The Corner and more.

- Adam Erace ships his stomach up to West Philly to eat his way through Manakeesh Cafe & Bakery, the hopping Lebanese hub at 45th and Walnut. He finds that there's much more to the joint than just the signature flatbread sandwiches. - The Fishmonger's Apprentice, from locally based chef/author/food journalist Aliza Green, showcases the beauty of seafood and takes an engrossing educational approach to breaking down the ins and outs of the fish biz. - In What's Cooking, Laurel Rose Purdy's got plenty of good stuff for your event calendar, including a Fishtown chili cook-off, an exclusive pizza-making class and more. - In News: Holly Otterbein examines an elaborate federal extortion case focusing on Chappy's Beer Butts and Bets, a South Philly beer distributor accused of trafficking in L&I favoritism.

- Good looks all around from Kennett, the new Queen Village saloon with a checkered past. From Prohibition cocktails to wood-fired pizza, the K crew does it all — and just about all of it well. - Drew Lazor writes up Blood, Bones & Butter, memoir of Prune chef/owner (and New Hope/Lambertville native — REPRESENT!) Gabrielle Hamilton. (Have you booked tickets for the First Person Arts brunch with her at Pumpkin?) If all the lines in this book are as clever as, “Her purpose is to take a long luxurious bath in my ear” (re: her sister), then I can’t wait to read. - Feeding Frenzy shares deets on Fathom, Far From Home Cafe, Cook and Port Richmond Pour House. - Chili cook-offs, Tours de France, Art in the Age beer dinners and more in the illustrious LRP’s What’s Cooking.

- Brion Shreffler visits four local firehouses to learn about our Philly firefighters' cooking and eating traditions. He learns that the meals go well beyond the stereotypical chili-and-cornbread image — and just how important their camaraderie is, both in the field and in the kitchen.

- That's-a spicy multiple variety of meat-a-ball! Adam Erace digs his experiences at Marabella Meatball Co., and even provides some South Philly-style advice for ordering the vegetarian marinara like a true paesan'.

- Our food/drink events column What's Cooking has details on Monday's izakaya pop-up at Khyber Pass Pub, the 10th annual Philly Cooks! competition, Delicatessen's first birthday party and more.

- In Feeding Frenzy, we've got details on 943, Makiman Sushi, Kitchen at Penn and more fresh food news.

For more than 10 years, Food & Wine has scoured the country for original, creative and talented chefs to determine its annual lineup for the magazine's "Best New Chef" award. This year, they've turned it around on you to lavish one region-specific standout with the title of The People's Best New Chef. Philadelphia's savvy exists within the Mid-Atlantic realm, where four very familiar chef faces can be found among six other guys and gals from the region. Food & Wine urges voters to decide based upon genuine dining experiences in candidates' establishments — to judge the food, and nothing else.

Philly chefs in the running include: Pierre Calmels, classicFrench chef, formerly of Le Bec-Fin and now owner/operator of Bibou; David Gilberg of Northern Liberties' Portuguese BYOB Koo Zee Doo; Italian chef Jeff Michaud of Osteria; and Blackfish's seafood-obsessed chef/owner, also hailing from Le Bec-Fin and Vetri, Chip Roman. Show your Philly boys some love! The winner will be featured in the July issue of Food & Wine. Get a little more cozy with your candidates — and most importantly, vote — here.

- The clubby atmosphere doesn't take anything away from the soulful food at Center City's Kokopelli, where chef Gina Rodriguez recreates family recipes and more to build interesting Southwest flavors. - What the hell is cold-smoking? It's a technique about as old as eating itself, and plenty of restaurants in Philly (Cafe Estelle, Sidecar, Brauhaus Schmitz, etc.) are practicing it. - In Feeding Frenzy, we run down a slew of new Philly openings, including Opa, Zaffron, Falafel Bar and much more.
