We're on the search for a couple awesome interns to join Team Meal Ticket beginning in January 2011. If you're interested in applying full details after the jump get in touch no later than Wed., Dec. 29 Mon., Jan. 3. Team Meal Ticket is in need of a smart, quick, dedicated 21+ food geek in possession of a digital camera, an obsessive attention to detail and a lust to know everything there is to know about the ever-expanding Philadelphia food scene. You will get a chance to create your own regular feature for this blog, as well as interview Phillys most interesting chefs, bartenders, restaurateurs, brewers and food artisans. The position is unpaid, but perks include swanky invites to press events, a chance to accumulate quality clips for your portfolio, occasional attaboys* from the editor and cold beer(s). Food industry experience is relevant, but not necessary. A background or degree in English, Communication or Journalism makes us smile. My cat Riley says THANKS FOR VOTING!

It appears as though I have been chosen as "Phoodie of the Year" in the second annual Philebrity Awards. At the risk of sounding treacly, I just wanted to extend a sincere thanks to anyone who voted. I certainly wasn't expecting to be nominated in the first place, which makes winning all the more surprising and flattering. (That's not to say that CP wasn't guilty of a little promosexual activity!) Anyways, Team Meal Ticket Adam Erace, plus our tireless interns Rachel Burgos, Anthony Sica and Juliana Reyes works super hard on creating original content for this silly little blog, so it's really, really satisfying to hear that y'all enjoy reading it. And an XL shoutout to the other nominees, as well Han Chiang from Han Dynasty, Marc Vetri, Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran, and Kate Carrara from the Buttercream cupcake truck. So thank you once more, and I'll try my damndest to live up to your "Phoodie of the Year" standards, whatever they may be I'll buy you a drink, but I ain't buying you dinner. Cheers, and see y'all!

Speaking of pretty and new spaces: Kennett is looking good in Queen Village. Adsum chef Matt Levin was not joking about his plans to host Four Loko dinner. Lots of lovely reader sharing, plus mentions of Celebre's, Kanella, N. 3rd and more, in Notes from the Weekend. Tuesday, Dec. 7 Freshii, a new healthy-eating concept, opens soon in Center City. Time introduces chicken-fried foie gras. We bow to you, Time. Yamaki Sushi sets up shop in Rittenhouse. Cookie Confidential is hawking cheesesteak cookies, bacon peanut brittle and more off South. Wednesday, Dec. 8 Get together with the Philly beer community to honor late Philly Beer Week founder Bruce Nichols. Marabella Meatball Co. sets up shop on Walnut Street. Sneak peek inside Shot Tower Coffee at Sixth and Christian. Show some love to Meal Ticket in the second annual Philebrity Awards. Thursday, Dec. 9 Philadelphia Chutney Co. is already working on its second location. Here's the name of Stephen Starr's upcoming English pub. What do you think? Pure Fare, a high-tech new café for Center City, will open in January. There's lots of good Pocky out there, but Coconut Pocky might be the best. Friday, Dec. 10 Want to eat like an Iron Chef America judge? Head to JG Domestic this month. More healthy-eatin' goodness for the area Sweetgreen is opening in Ardmore. Love old-school kiddie cereals? So do the owners of South Street's Supper, and they want to eat some with you. Roasted meat on spits! Rotisseur is opening at 21st and Chestnut.

Congratulations are in order for our very own Drew Lazor, who has been nominated for "Phoodie of the Year" in the 2010 Philebrity Awards. He has some stiff competition (I'm looking at you, cupcake lady ... ), but am confident that this award was made for someone like him. When he isn't eating food, he is talking about it. When he's not talking about it, he is cooking it. And when he's not cooking it, he is on a quest to find some. Don't let my little puff piece here sway you: I honestly feel he deserves this award. You don't have to tell me who you pick, but you can vote here. Good luck, Drew!

Team Meal Ticket hits up The Vous, Zavino, Mémé and a bunch of other spots, all chronicled in Notes from the Weekend. Tuesday, Nov. 23 The long-delayed Sticks & Stones makes its official debut. A photo recap of the excellent Green Meadow Farm dinner at James. Snag a bag of artisan popcorn from Metropolitan Bakery this holiday song. Wednesday, Nov. 24 15/18 should be opening on Sansom before the end of the year. Every so often, we pop a little Meal Ticket into the print edition of City Paper. For our latest MT supplement, we put together two fun little pieces for y'all: - In his primi primer, Adam Erace rounds up some unusual pasta shapes being twisted, pulled and pinched in Philly kitchens. Check it out to find out what the chefs at Mémé, Paradiso, Garces Trading Co., Modo Mio and other spots are up to. - Philly's uptick of cocktail destinations is reason alone to raise a glass but what if you don't know what's in that glass to begin with?
