After dozens of suggestions last week, we've decided on Ticket Stubs as the best name for our end-of-week recap post. Thanks to all who submitted ideas! Now what did we get into this week ... Monday, May 17 - Food Network persronality Robert Irvine shot a pilot for a new show called Restaurant: Impossible, and Meal Ticket was in the house. - Recapped the Italian Market Festival, smoky, smoky chicken, Food Wars filming and more in Notes from the Weekend. - City Paper's 2010 DISH Magazine went live on the web. Why are we surprised again? - Felicia D shows you just how far your dollar can go at the Headhouse Square farmers market. - Delicatessen, already a hopping lunch spot, introduces dinner. - Speaking of hopping — Happy Hour Hopper hits up Jose Garces' Chifa to check out the scene. Wednesday, May 19 - A Philly installment of Crocodile Lounge, aka the NYC bar that gives you free pizza with every beer, is close to opening in Old City. - Also getting close: Le Cochon Noir, an uber-ambitious barbecue joint and live jazz/blues venue on Parkside Avenue near Fairmount Park. - Grub Street Philadelphia is getting a new editor, the by-all-accounts-nice-dude Collin Keefe. Thursday, May 20 - Chef Alex Capasso opens West Side Gravy in nearby Collingswood. - Early details on the bad-ass Craft Beer Express gearing up for Philly Beer Week. Friday, May 21 - The Lost series finale is on Sunday! Here are a few local bars planning themed shindigs. - Don't you love when you run into elusive restaurateurs on the street? We do! If you picked up a copy of last week's City Paper, you already have your very own Spring 2010 DISH magazine. We're proud to announce that all our DISH content is now online, as well. Here's what we've got for you: - Amy Strauss runs down Pennsylvania Dutch cooking traditions working their way onto bar and restaurant menus here in Philly. The pickle plate at Meritage, above, is just one of dozens of examples. - There are plenty of home beer brewers out there — but who's making their own mead? CP staff writer Holly Otterbein profiles several Philly locals who whip up batches of their very own honey wine. - Felicia D shares the story behind Prism Brewing Company, a brand-new player in the Philly-region craft beer game. - This city has Thai and Vietnamese eaterires galore — but there are many Southeast Asian cuisines that don't get the same kind of attention. Isaiah Thompson grubs all over the city in search of the best eats from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and more.

First Person Arts has been gathering the family recipes of area foodies for their Edible World blog series, and today's post features our girl Felicia D. Check out the site to read her family's version of Boilo, the antracite coal-miner's cure for everything. FD says it's "akin to a hot toddy on steroids." Just what the doctor ordered.

Everyone has a story to tell, and for foodies, those stories spin on edible axes. This food-centric world takes the main stage when First Person Arts hosts Sunday Supper and Family Lore at Bridget Foy's (200 South St.) next Sunday, April 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.. As part of the Edible World series' home-cooking experiment, Sunday Supper will feature Suzan Colón, author of Cherries in Winter, for a night of story-telling and a family-style feast featuring Colón's family recipes.

"Through her story, Colón learned of her family's history, struggle and resilence," Karina Kacala of FPA tells Meal Ticket. "In the past, we focused on area restaurants, but this portion of the Edible World series celebrates the story of home kitchens and family tradition." Check out FPA's blog to read how Rick Nichols (Philadelphia Inquirer) adopted the recipes of his wife's Slovak/Hungarian-Roumanian family as his own. and keep an eye out for a contribution from Meal Ticket's very own Felicia D next week.

Tickets are $30 for members, $35 for non-members and can be purchased here. Submit a recipe and 250-word story to Kacala (kkacala[at]firstpersonarts.org) by today, April 2, and you could be awarded air time at the event (you must pay admission to be eligible) and have your story featured on Colón's blog.

Menu after the jump.

Course 1: Split pea soup with grilled ham and frizzled leeks

Course 2: Cadillac meatloaf with bacon, mashed potatoes and asparagus with crimini mushroom gravy

Course 3: Apple cake with spiced pecans and nutmeg whipped cream

Vegetarian options: tomato fennel soup, eggplant napoleon with provolone, broccoli rabe and roasted peppers with marinara sauce

Complimentary glass of wine with dinner

"Simply Honest" vegan pie at Fino's Pizza

Twice a year, Meal Ticket leaps from the Web to the print edition of City Paper for a little extra-curricular romp. Our Meal Ticket Spring '10 supplement hits newsstands today, lovingly coddled within the regular Food & Restaurants section.

Find inside Team Meal Ticket's exhaustive exploration of regionally delicious non-Neapolitan pizza; those local pies that aren't Tacconelli's, Osteria, Zavino or Stella. We've got the inside info on vegan pies made by vegan Sicilians, the secret of Greek pizzerias and the American cheese-coated mystery that is Pizazz.

Concocted from proprietary blends of botanicals, bitters are the comeback kid of the new cocktail culture. Now five local bartenders are getting back to the roots of the historical cure-all by making their own custom infusions. Their bespoke bitters range from the aromatic tincture of kaffir lime and curry leaves for Phoebe Esmon's Madras version to Poppy Brewster's tobacco-hit iteration inspired by the cigars of Havana at Alma de Cuba.

Meal Ticket's own Felicia D'Ambrosio debuts some brand-new real estate in the print edition of this week's City Paper. Titled Spirit Sister, the bimonthly column will tackle the bar, beer and cocktail scene here in Philly. "Spirit Sister delves into the people and places that provide us with magical elixirs, soporific drams and other temptingly toxic potions," says Flea of her plan of attack. Her first installment, which'll be online a little later this evening, deals with Ladder 15 rejiggering its entire concept after the arrival of chef David Ansill. Check out Flea's previous coverage of the bar here on Meal Ticket.

Sounds like an overdue glimpse of the goings-on with most important people and places on earth: bartenders and bars.

Well isn't this nice? Philadelphia Weekly doffed its alterna-cap to Meal Ticket's very own Felicia D. in its new "Better Than the Best" awards package, which honors things that are THE BEST!

Best Person to Talk to When Entertaining the Idea Of Becoming a Beer Expert In Your Next Life:

Here at PW we have no problem giving credit where it's due. That said, City Paper's food blog Meal Ticket helps us with our daily dose of procrastination, as it's a must read for anyone hoping to get the scoop on restaurant openings, specials and foodie news. Felicia D'Ambrosio is half of the stellar team over at Meal Ticket, and she really knows her stuff. A long-time bartender at beer mecca Belgian Cafe, she is like a walking, talking encyclopedia of brew knowledge, and can spout off a hundred different facts about the suds you're sipping like she's some sort of spooky reincarnation of Michael Jackson. (The beer writer, not the King of Pop.) Next time you want to know more about your vice, pop in at Belgian and have her pour you a pint.

Though perhaps better known as the gritty-glam late-night hangout for restaurant industry folk, the Pen & Pencil Club (1522 Latimer St.) has been a members-only club for journalists since 1892, making it the oldest continuously operating press club in America and the second oldest in the world. Full members, who must be working press, will have a chance to learn about the current state of instant food journalism when Philadelphia Magazine food editor Ashley Primis hosts Foodies, Chefs & The Blogosphere at 7:30 p.m. on Wed., March 3.

The panel discussion, part of the P&P's Off The Record event series, will include chef Michael Schulson of Sampan and Izakaya at the Borgata in Atlantic City, third-generation restaurateur Sam Mink of Oyster House, Foobooz blogger Art Etchells, Fries With That Shake blogmistress Jess Ward and our own Meal Ticket/City Paper food and restaurants editor, Drew Lazor.
